Surely if Sheffield wednesday have been awarded the tie against bury for failing to play the fixture then we should be awarded the tie for Bolton failing to play the fixture.

Exactly. It's not a postponement, it's a refusal to fulfil a fixture.

It's a different scenario being a knockout comp. Whatever happens in the EFL now is a mess and will arguably advantage and disadvantage other clubs eg Tranmere won't be happy about losing their 5-0 if Bolton are kicked out, we won't be happy if we don't get awarded the win and then lose in the actual rearranged game, and worse every day this mess continues.

If they can't play, they're out of business and sadly should be booted out of the EFL.

If Bury can't show that they can fulfil their league fixtures and are booted out, their record (if they have one) can be expunged as has happened in the past.

However, if Bury were allowed to play in a cup competition and by some miracle they won through two rounds and then went into liquidation, it's not so easy to expunge their record and put things square again!

Can’t be compared to the Charlton scenario - as far as I can remember they had a proper squad for both games..
