Just seen this they the lad is off work with depression/anxiety & battling with Bipolar disorder - I didn’t know about his ongoing mental health illness & just wanted to say I/we all wish you well Billy with your recovery which is hopefully just round the corner

A horrible illness which is still seen by many as taboo.
Glad he’s seemingly getting the help he needs.

He deserves sympathy too - to be fair I never got all this 'he's a complete kitson' malarky really - he was a striker I'd have had playing in rovers colours any day of the week.

Mental health is becoming a huge issue across all walks of life - these guys - despite their inflated salaries and perceived personas deserve to keep their mental health as much as everyone else!

Bi-polar affective disorder

To give it's correct title

I have interviewed 18 current first team footballers from across the football league about mental health in football for my PhD study and it is rife. There are lots of players still  reluctant to speak out for fear of losing their place in the team or fear of not been offered a new contract. I’m hoping my research can help make a difference. I was at a conference at Arsenal last week and a guy from the Swedish PFA is interested in my research. I’ve also recently delivered a presentation to our under 23 and under 18 sides. It’s good to see that our academy takes player welfare seriously
