Thanks to those who have ordered a copy. Really hope you find it enjoyable.
Re the club stocking it, I’ve emailed the club shop and the commercial dept but not had a reply so far,
I’ll let you know if I hear anything from them.

I was also at Donny Tech, (Danum), at this time and on the day of the away game at Chester, the school organised a bus trip to Chesterfield to watch England U18s play Scotland U18s, as we had a lad from Danum called Ken Ward playing for England. (Whatever happened to him?) Spent the whole game glued to transistor listening to updates from Sealand Road and a great 4-1 win. Looked at the programme recently and noticed a certain Lou Macari was in the Scotland team. All the rest, from both teams, seem to have vanished without trace. Anybody else got any memories of this?

I too will be ordering this book, bringing back many happy memories of the 65/66 team and travelling to a number of the away games - inc the Torquay trip (I think half the bus must be on this forum!).

The team was well balanced and suffered few injuries and looked well set to establish themselves in the higher division. Things looked very promising at the start of the 66/67 season, but after John Nicholson suffered fatal injuries in a car crash that also injured Alick Jeffrey, the heart was ripped out of the side and it was downhill from there, so we'll never know how good they would have become.

Nevertheless, they did us proud over the promotion season and were Champions after a nail-biting last few weeks at the end. It's almost impossible to compare teams across the years, but I can say that Jeffrey and Nicholson would fit smoothly into any side over the decades and so too would Laurie Sheffield because of his goalscoring instincts - how we could use him at the moment!

It's just a crying shame that there's not the tv coverage from years gone by that we take for granted now.

Somewhere on the internet (youtube?) theres definitely clips from Bradford v Donny from around that time. I know Alick is playing for the Rovers on the clips.

You only get a glimpse though HA. It was the game that was shown on Yorkshire TV highlights on the Sunday. We lost 1-0 and there was a one man pitch invasion by an Avenue fan. A poor game and a rare defeat for us that season. Little Phil Robinson played for them that day in midfield.
