Support for Corbynism has increased since 2017

Something to consider when electing the next Labour leader - and annoy the Tories on here.

Corbyn was roundly mocked over the weekend when he said he had won the argument but polling shows he was correct - support for his nationalisation and return to public ownership programme increased in the 2019 GE showing now:

Railways: 64% for - 23% against
Bus Companies: 63% for - 23% against
Royal Mail: 69% for - 18% against

These are the good points he made. It's a shame for Labour it was overshadowed by a mountain of other unelectable dross.

I bet that there are plenty of people hoping that Corbyn keeps his current job.

I think most of us would agree with him on the things you've mentioned there Wilts. Which only reiterates the fact that the Labour Party's attitude on Brexit is the main reason they lost.

I reckon you are right there, Steve.

Some folk think a GE elects a leader, like in the US Presidency.
As we know, the leader of a party can change during a parliament, so you end up with a different PM because of internal party politics.

Trouble is, the policies were not widely understood by voters.
This is because campaigning based on misinformation has had an impact:
https://metro.co.uk/2019/12/10/investigation-finds-88-tory-ads-misleading-compared-0-labour-11651802/

This is a cancer on the democratic process.
We will not have a free and fair election when it is possible to corrupt the process with bought facebook ads, targeted to mislead voters.

Winners are grinners, apparently Albie some don't care how a win is gained about any form of vote as long as they see a 'win' as you know the country's been in winning form espescially over the last three years.

Sydney, one of the big reasons why Blair won in 1997 with that landslide was that Murdoch's Sun backed him.

I'll bet you didn't complain about media influence then.

Steve if you read the Albie's post to which I've replied it specifically mentions false/misleading fb ads nearly 100 show many times, combined with the overspend on the second vote plus the misleading gobshite from johnson and leave I think I'm my post reflects the truth, no?

added:meant Farage not johnson

You are probably overestimating the number of people who do Facebook.
It is highly unlikely that those adverts would have made the Labour collapse so big.

You haven’t answered Steve’s question about 1997.
