I agree with you Bentley Bullet. At times he looked absolute quality. Other games not overly impressed
Maybe he’s been found out in the championship and his level is top end of league 1
I’d have him back because he was always a concern for defences because of his strength and aggression

I've seen Barnsley on the telly 2 or 3 times this season and he's looked way out of his depth, so not surprising he can't get a game. There's a huge difference between League 1 and the Championship.
I think if Wilks has an issue or two they are that 1) he's a one trick pony: play on the right wing and cut in onto his left foot - a good Championship full back will soon suss that out, and 2) very lazy at tracking back and defending

I remember JET playing for us who had a similar game plan: cutting in from the right wing onto his left foot, but he was a far batter player

To be fair it was Stendel who signed him. It could well be he just doesn't gel with the new manager. As we know he can potentially be a difficult character, luckily we had a manager last season who knew how to get him to channel that on the pitch.

No chance of getting him permanently you'd have thought, they spent over a million on him and you'd think they'd want at least half of that back even if they were desperate to cut their losses.

I think a bigger stumbling block to a permanent transfer would be the fact,Malik has 3 1/2  years left on his contract, why would he want to transfer?Be daft to transfer to another club on say a 2 year deal?

Did he “get away” because he wanted to play in the Championship Martin or was it something else?

Maybe wanted to work with a manager he's played for in the past? (which isn't meant as criticism of DM incidentally)

Possibly.
I was hoping that SM might be in a position to let us know.

I'm not sure about Maliks approach to this. Did he have a preference? I'm not sure on that one.

Essentially it would be what's best for Barnsley.

I would have loved him back here, but we can't compete with Championship sides.

On a personal note for Mallik, I think this will be a good move for him. McCann clearly found the knack for keeping his mind right and getting the best out of him, something that just didn't happen at Barnsley for whatever reason.

Be interesting to see if Wilks is tasked with filling the void left by Bowen, if Bowen is to leave in this window.

I’d be very surprised if we even had a remote chance of getting him, the option to come to league 1, or play for championship must have been a no brainier, on top of that going back to play for a manager he knows.

Regardless of money if I were a pro I’d know where I’d have gone, and afraid to say I’d be going hull all day long

Can’t blame him. Playing championship football for a manager that got the best out of him. Taking our DRFC bias off it’s a no brainier on paper

Always think it’s an interesting one when you loan a player to a club in the same division. Presumably when you say it’s best for Barnsley it’s because he can do some damage to other Championship clubs, but if they think he’s capable of doing that for a club pushing for the play offs then why wouldn’t he be capable of doing it for a club fighting relegation?

Wouldn't it more likely to be that Hull can afford more of his wages than we can?

Still having Grosiki and Bowen it will be interesting what playing time he will get unless one of them go. .
Another loan though, I feel with us already having four loans then any more coming in will wonder will I sat in the stand.

He just doesn't fit the system Struber plays Nick it's as simple as that really .

The lads occupying the roles you could possibly shoehorn Wilks in are way ahead of him in work rate and product .

Luke Thomas and Jacob Brown have massive energy , commitment and a final product and young Simoes comes off the bench to replace one of those two late in games and carrys on running the legs off defenders .

I think you'd agree that's not Wilks's game , I don't think Struber trusts him to carry out what he demands out on the pitch .

Stendel had him down to play wide left in his stock 4-4-2 system and we play a diamond formation under Struber .

I'd personally like to keep him at Oakwell for at least another full season but to be fair Struber's not got much wrong since his arrival .

I see that Hull have an option to buy at the end of this seasons loan perhaps that’s one reason he went there.

Does seem a daft signing. Two systems that neither get the best out of him. It'll be interesting to see how he does for Hull played in his favoured wide right position.
