Memories of Belle Vue
« on February 10, 2020, 04:41:29 pm by Donnywolf »
Is there a place somewhere that I could upload some Photos of Belle Vue for posterity ?
My photos are not great but in 100 years time they will still exist like the Black and White and Sepia ones from before that do now

I have about 12 of the last Night Game v Mansfield Town and about the same of the last League Game v Forest

Posting them on here would be ok but is there somewhere like Flickr already existing where people could add their own Photos and Scans of Programmes etc ?

If not should we start one ?

I have just looked at Flickr and people can and do start Groups dedicated to whatever subject they want so that is a way forward but is it something we want or need ?

Yes that is a great idea

GW - That does sound good but would that be an individual to administer it or does it work communally ?

Secondly before someone acts I would just like to see if something is already out there in the "ether" so will let this ride for a few days

Thanks for the input so far guys and I will sling in a Photo of some sort - I know taking to the Field v Forest in last Game

Also I know I and some others have video footage of things like "Goals on Sunday" from 80's etc. Mine I transferred to DVD but its very raw as in about 30 seconds a clip with loads of squiggly lines in between so needed cleaning up. I am not sure how we stand copyright wise but surely the more techy on here could clean up and end up with a product which is reasonably watchable (one bit is from Saint and Greavsie!)

I think it depends on whether you'd want a closed group or an open one. Someone (or more than one person) would need to be the admin on it, but I can't seeing it being a big job - either helping people who want to upload their own stuff or booting off the w**kers it'll no doubt attract (if it's an open group).

I'll PM you with the link to the Facebook Group I'm thinking of as a model. You could always pick the brains of the people running that one if you think it's right for what you want.

Why not have a memories of Belle Vue section on this forum?

I used to post my stuff on Flickr till they started charging over a certain "capacity" so I stopped

Then I thought just now - I wonder if there is anything on there already and look what turned up. Hover over Photo and it shows the description

As a member of the Public you can just search for anything - just give it a try

This is a subject that has been raised at a national level by a certain supporters trust who has been collecting ideas and information from all corners of the football league in order for supporters of all clubs to be the collective for memories and memorabilia. I’ve been in touch with him recently.

Further to that Luke, at DRFC, and myself discussed this briefly at the weekend. If you cold hold fire until I’m back in the country I’ll be happy to organise something.

OK SM  - I didnt know any of that, but from a germ of an idea looks like things are already on the move which is great

Anyway I had already been putting my 2 sets of Photos on Flickr for the time being - Hover over photos for comments. Can move them later but at least they are there for now

Seems mental that Copps played at Belle Vue. What a career he has had with us.

What a fantastic playing surface at Belle Vue.

In the early part of 2000, it would have graced a Premiership club as a pitch.

Also in the seventies IDM.
I was fortunate enough to play on it a fair few times.
Funnily enough, the only other pitch I played on that was as good was the main pitch at what is now the Cantley Park training ground.
