Article in DFP suggests DM will be making changes to freshen things up.

I wonder if we'll be back to Whiteman, Sheaf and Copps. I'd like to see the Ennis, Cole, Sadlier combo again as the front 3.

The issue is done and dusted as far as we know as the appeal upheld the original decision.

Cheers did not know that

I’m amazed at the continued vitriol towards Bolton on here. The game to us on Tuesday is meaningless, we’ve already accepted we’re going down and now our only interest is in building a squad good enough to come straight back up again next season. We are well on the way to doing that now with several of our young players living up to first team ability whilst our new signings are also bedding in. We are still missing a few senior players through injury, including Ali Crawford but they should be back soon. I don’t think it will be a walk over for you on Tuesday but if you play well you should still be good enough to take the points. I’m obviously hoping you don’t but let’s be honest, if you can’t beat us then you aren’t good enough to get promoted. What I can tell you is that to Wanderers fans this is just another game and we have much more important things to worry about than Doncaster Rovers feelings. I will be there on Tuesday anyway.

Only a little Vitriol from a few, I think the Majority are resigned to what will be will be,
Regarding the game , you are correct, if we are to be serious about getting into the play offs we should win, but if we aren’t good enough we will either draw or lose, ....i guess it’s all about those 11 players and what they hope to achieve....

Us!, we are just fans

This is a game where the footballing authorities let every fan down . They excepted disgraceful excuses and weren’t punished adequately. They will have watched us against Rochdale and will know doubt be praying that DM keeps the same team as the same result is almost guaranteed.

I think its important to understand why Rovers fans are so upset by the decision, When you see escaping the foot of the conference as success after being took out of the league by a crook you would understand what hitting hard times is. We just saw it as an economic decision by a faceless accountant as the young players were the only saleable asset you had . To dress it up as "welfare" was a vaguely transparent attempt to deceive and as per usual the EFL bought it if you look at the punishment. To be honest you could be any team trying it on, so say it was Tranmere, the upset would be the same. Just accept it was a con and it worked Hope it makes you happy to be involved in that.

Hi DonnyWolf, thanks for the reply indicating not to park at the Beefeater tomorrow, I’ll use the other location you suggest and get there early. Hope to catch you in the Beefeater if you’re in?

Frankie.

The most annoying thing about this entire situation was the entitled bullshit spoken by those running your club when they chose to cancel the fixture and didn't even have the professionalism to inform us

The second most annoying thing is that your club hasn't been penalised. At all.

You will come out if this at worst points-neutral compared to if you had fulfilled the structure. And you will come out significantly up in terms of income.

That is utterly astonishing and sets a horrendous precedent for the future.

Billy, I completely agree with your first point, the way it was done was both disrespectful and spurious and I agree the EFL should have acted swiftly and decisively in giving you the 3 points and probably a 1-0 win as they did with us for the Brentford game the previous season. Had they done that I don’t think anyone would have complained too much.

Clearly there were though numerous other factors between BWFC and the EFL which may have affected their thinking and indeed they are still ongoing. Since the Doncaster game cancellation review is now resolved it’s probably best to just accept it and move on because right or wrong it is what it is. You may well win both our games and get the points anyway and if you do it will be seen as just but either way let’s just put it behind us and move on because life’s too short for carrying grudges.

This is going to be fun! I'll forgive the players wearing gloves tonight but the best way for them to keep warm is by putting a shift in!

Best use of a Balti pie tonight is to sit on it rather than eat it!

Enjoy. COYR.

An important few points:

1. The EFL didn't decide the penalty, an independent disciplinary panel did. The original decision was then appealled by the EFL but, again, an independent disciplinary panel determined that the penalty imposed was a valid one. I understand the disgruntlement on your part but surely the fact the two separate independent disciplinary panels concluded that it wasn't necessary to impose a harsher penalty counts for something?

2. We were due to play Lincoln City early in the season but the match was potsponed at a very late stage on the morning of the match due to a waterlogged pitch, with many of our supporters having already travelled a good distance.

The match was then rearranged on a date after the opening of the transfer window, despite us offering an ealier date for the rearrangement. That rearranged date was rejected by the powers that be, and instead it was determined that the match should be played on a Tuesday night meaning that many supporters who had bought their tickets expecting the match to be played on a Saturday were then unable to go.

Further to this, as the transfer window had opened, we had lost a number of the loanees we had due to the players returning to their parent clubs, and we had other important players who had since picked up injuries and were unavailable for the rearranged fixture. As a result, our team was significantly weaker and we were beaten by a convincing scoreline. It's extraordinarily unlikely that we'll stay up but, suppose we were in a position to do so by the end of the season, that result could well end up being the difference between staying up and not.

3. I'm not happy that we postponed the match against your club, nor am I happy that your club wasn't given prior notice, but I'll defend my club against accusations that we tried to gain an unfair advantage, and as the example above shows, you aren't the only club to have been inconvenienced.

4. I have no axe to grind with Doncaster Rovers and wish you success in your bid to reach the play-offs and achieve promotion (with the obcious exception of tonight and the reverse fixture). As far as I can tell, you're a well-run club and I'm very much in favour of well-run clubs succeeding.

5. Ali Crawford was very good for us before unfortunately picking up a long-term injury. I'm surprised you let him go; the player who replaced him must be a good one.

 because you "inconvenienced" more than one club, you should be forgiven for "inconveniencing" DRFC?

Ah well, 2-1 tonight gives us the victory we were owed

Not quite. The one we are owed is on the 24th of March. 👍

So now you have seen how poor we are just like I said. We are beyond hope but you did make heavy weather if it, although it was bitter tonight and can’t have been easy out there. Anyway, good luck for the rest of the season guys.

We did our best to give you a share of the spoils!

2 poor sides on that showing, tonight.

Up to the point we gifted them a goal I thought we were good and the fluidity through midfield with Sheaf back in there was much better. I think the front 3 worked well with Ennis left and Sadlier right.

Halliday was taking up some exceptional positions to demand the ball and carry it nto dangerous positions to make the extra man. James too getting into advanced positions, how many times do you see a full back playing a pass like that, from that position for the goal.

I still think we are a bit too wasteful at times with clear scoring opportunities wasted. We should have been at least 3 up at half time.

At 2-1 plus the James injury we looked jittery but did enough to see out the match although a little more composure at times would help as Ramsey showed when he came on.

Good summary DBR, I would agree with all of that.

I thought the team showed much better balance than last Saturday and played some good stuff in the first half especially. The two full backs bombed forward at will and Sadlier once again was excellent, really causing Bolton a lot of problems.
His ball to James, and James' flick through to Fejiri for the first goal - both superb.

Once Ennis got the second early in the second half, after a sublime first-time ball from Sadlier to Halliday and an equally exquisite pin-point cross from The Master, I thought we were cruising and would go on to score a couple more.

Then we somehow managed to self-destruct and handed a gift-wrapped goal to Bolton.
After that we fell apart somewhat and lost our composure. I feared the worst, but Ramsey was a welcome addition and got us back on the front foot.

In the end, a well-deserved and important win, although it should have been much more comfortable.

Well that was rubbish 2 games on the trot, if that was another side up there they would have took them to the cleaners.  I feel that when they scored all be it our own fault , playing out from the back when we did not meet to we seemed to panic big style

Got a big bad feeling about this one , and I know I’m not alone in this..
Yes we can big it up and shake our fists on here at that terrible team Bolton.... but they are turning up with 11 players on the park who desire to beat the odds and stay up...

If we can match that desire to get in the play offs,
we may edge it 2-1 ,
however that big bad feeling keeps saying we are gonna get thumped 3 nil..

I guess it depends on who DM thinks has the right skills and mindset for this one,

it feels personal now,

the hostility from their fans and the physical nature of their team will either impose its will on us.....or drive us on to bring our best game !

‘Oh ye of little faith’.

Where’s your “big, bad feeling” this morning?

A great 3 points rather than a great performance, a disgusting over the top tackle on James that could have been more serious than it is which is bad enough, and should have been a straight red.
Good football interspersed  with comical mistakes, which ended with us giving a very poor goal away that gave them momentum to get back in a game that they were slowly losing hope in,lessons to be learnt there.
The second goal was another lesson about the game against Rochdale, give Coppinger time and the ball on the edge of the area, positions we got into quite a few times v Rochdale, and he will hurt you with his ability and vision. He needs to play every game.

Our second goal particularly showed the advantage we now have with a proper 3 up front. Copps had options when he received the ball. He could have slid in Fejiri, could have squared to Sadlier and obviously his sublime cross to Ennis meant the Bolton defence didn't have a clue and Ennis was able to finish with aplomb!
