I’m still trying to fathom how Kevin Noteman missed that open goal.
We've just utterly and comprehensively battered Tranmere.0-3 was a let-off. It could easily have been 5 or 6. Think back, a generation or so. Tranmere were a side who we could barely hope to emulate. A side, a division and a half above us, who snuffed out our naive hopes of getting to Wembley, with the likes of Muir, Steele, Morrissey and Malkin comfortably out-playing us (and leaving me, for the one and only time as a Donny fan, slumped on the terrace in tears at Preston Park because they stole away my dream of seeing my team at Wembley). Then they went on to greater heights with John Aldridge, while we sank under Firestarter. They were a symbol of everything we couldn't hope to be.And here we are, a generation later and we've just battered them tonight.Next time you feel a knee-jerk complaint about the club fermenting in your head, just stop and think. These aren't bad days, regardless of where we finish this season.

They were head and shoulders better than us. We weren't coming back. The dream died that night
Great post, I've been to Prenton Park twice now, that night & last night !Last minute decision to drive over yesterday & my first away this season, what a night 😁
Further to my late night ramblings above, I've just checked our record vs Tranmere since we lost there in the first leg of the LDV semi in 1990.P13 W7 D4 L2 GF17 GA7 PPG 1.92 - Automatic promotion form. They must be our favourite opponents over the past thirty years.
I was at Wembley when Tranmere were in the Worthington cup final Vs Leicester, Tranmere had the player that had the long throw ins.John Aldridge Vs Martin O’Neil. That’s when Tranmere were at their peak.
