Sheffield and Hallamshire FA County Cup .....
« on April 25, 2020, 11:56:17 am by Draytonian III »
... the original cup has been found on EBay and bought by a football historian,Martin Westby . In the article in today’s Daily Mirror (25/05/20)it states that,
“The Cup was last won by Barnsley against Doncaster Rovers in 1993 after which the competition stopped “
I thought it went on after that , I remember to going to a final against Worksop in the late 90’s early 00’s

Actually different competitions (The Red Baron can give a far fuller story than me).

The SHCC referred to was normally between Rovers, Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield United and sometimes Wednesday. Some clubs often dropped out and many years after 1982 it was not played at all. The comment about the 1993 final is correct.

In our non-league years we qualified for the Sheffield Senior Challenge Cup which was for non league teams.

There is an excellent comprehensive book by Andrew Kirkham called simply 'The Sheffield & Hallamshire FA County Cup' which gives a full history and detailed stats, line-ups etc.

There was a Yorkshire & Humberside Cup (aka Yokshire Electricity Cup) which started in 1988-89 and I think stopped after 1995-96.

The Memories of Doncaster site has a picture of the Rovers side that won it 1891.
I saw it this morning.

Hiya Dutch, I have a signed copy of the aforementioned book, statistically its a gem. It also helps me locate programmes i am missing as often programmes of the 50's etc. don't even mention these games, so useful tool in that respect
