Ultimate Cult Hero - Eliminator #7: The Survivors
« on April 27, 2020, 02:19:49 pm by RoversAlias »
Hi folks,

I'm hoping to get through the Eliminator round of our search for the Ultimate Cult Hero of Doncaster Rovers this week, so on we go with two more polls today, both with a 90s theme.

First up, four players who came out with credit from the dark days under Richardson and straight after when we dropped into the Conference: Cramb, Mike, Nicol & Warren.

Who best deserves a place in the Sweet 16?

I always wonder with Lee Warren, whether he was doing us a great service, or he was just too crap for anyone to come in for him. Adie Mike was a solid pro (i remember him making his debut at Man City), and typical of the times a striker that ended up martialling the defence the year we went down.

There were a few heroes of that first year in the Conf, Shaun Goodwin, Ian Duerden, Mark Hume...

Voted Lee Warren - despite absolute turmoil all around him never let him affect his performances on the pitch - was extremely professional & then very unfortunate to get an injury as Wignall came in & got released

I went for Lee Warren as well. Steve Nichol was an absolute joy to watch but Lee was around longer and had a lot more to put up with.
I've found this the hardest to decide on so far.

Lee Warren for me also.
A top professional who was a credit to himself in the face of enormous adversity.

I would vote for Lee Warren too - I always regard him as the glue that kept the remnants of the club sticking together. Without him - and this may sound very extreme - keeping those remaining few players together and going - who knows what starting point we'd have been at.

Has to be Warren. Just because he gave us some semblance of professionalism to cling onto in the darkest days.
