There is a part of the real thing filmed in action where two Tommies  run back across the bridge and dive into a doorway while being machine gunned from the first German tank coming over the bridge to retake it.
I was at a Market Garden meeting at the Doncaster Cricket Club picking dad up where the veterans of the Burma Star and the Market Garden veterans met up for a chat and drink every month.
I mentioned I had seen it on the Sky Documentary a couple of days earlier and was taken over to meet a little old gentleman, this is one of them two I was told, very emotional,  silly question "what was it like"  answer " bloody frightening" he was from Westwoodside I think.

I saw this film in The Netherlands with subtitles to the multi-lingual sound track. The polyglot Dutch blithely ignored the subtitles, understanding all the English, German, French, ............................ until Liv Ullmann started speaking Dutch in her role, and not a single person could understand her - and of course that was the only part of the film without subtitles

Great film though.

Perhaps you should congratulate Hugh Zappritti-Boyden on his appointment as chairman of the British Budgerigar Association.

My dad's former boss Ralph Frayne was BBA chairman in 1975, as was his other mate Lou Ruddle in 1974.
