Poor Alfie

I see Cheltenham lost 3:0 at home tonight after being 2:0 up from the first leg - so Alfie misses out on a trip to Wembley....  :(

I was too, but only because I thought he wouldn't bother us much and give us any trouble.
He has been a very lucky boy, his move came just at the right time, i doubt he would have a contract with a league club if he had seen the season out with us in the circumstances as they are now.
At least he is set for a couple of years where he is and good luck to him.

You just can't help it Selby. The fact is Alfie has proven he deserved a league contract by scoring 6 goals in 12 games for Cheltenham. A good record any way you look at it and I'm glad he has a chance to become something at Cheltenham, even if that will be in League Two next season.

I watched the first half tonight. Cheltenham were absolutely awful. they barely found a man with a pass and they had no way of handling Oliver up front for Northampton. If tonight is anything to go on, that lad might be a handful next year if Northampton get promoted.

I watched parts of the game, Alfie was less sharp than I recall him being for us - maybe just rusty from the break, not disimmilar than almost every player I've seen in England. He was a bit shy of attacking when he had the chance. One reasonable shot right at the end.

At least Johnny Maxted get's a day out at Wembley with Exeter, though I'd expect Northampton to win on todays performances. Wiliams might get a game for Northampton, but neither he, Maxted, nor Alfie are League 1 standard, doubt we'll see any of them.

Cheltenham got bullied from the first whistle,Alan McCormack totally ran the midfield in the first half. I’ll be cheering on Northampton in the final only because it’s half the distance there than Exeter

He's on loan from WBA Billy so whether he's back at Northampton next season is hard to say .

The lad looked a really good player I have to say , quite how much game time he's going to see if Albion are back in the PL next season is debatable .

I reckon Albion may want to loan him out next season too but possibly to a championship club and test him at that level .

Oliver is at Northampton - ex Notts Country and Crewe - he is a handful but had a very average record.

The lad Morton who scored two is the one on loan from WBA. Looks like the kind of striker who can score all types of goals. But mainly just seems to have the knack of being in the right place at the right time.

That’s Moreton you are talking about and despite his two goals I thought he was distinctly average. First goal hit him on the head and went in, he knew nothing about it and the second was a defensive mix up that he took advantage of. Lots of raw pace and a big heart but very little technique.

Alfie looked way off the pace, looked as though he had piled on a few pounds tbh. Cheltenham were awful!

Watched both games and a big difference in performances.Cheltenham were absolutely awful last night and got what they deserved tbh.Alfie might as well have been sat with the cardboard cut outs for all he contributed but he was no different to any of their other players.I was really hoping to see him shine but he's probably grateful on that performance that he will still be under contract next season.

Personally i think Exeter will win the final,a much better Footballing side than Northampton who are obviously very physical and direct and on a big pitch like Wembley i think they will have too much for them.
