Terriers
« on June 29, 2020, 03:26:33 pm by scawsby steve »
Another pasting yesterday, and a man sent off. They are in freefall, and with Charlton, Luton, and Boro all winning this weekend, the chances of Barnsley, Hull, and Terriers coming down are getting stronger by the minute, for 6 great derby games next season.

What a ball-ache it would be if that happened, and we couldn't get to their stadiums because of the virus.

Be lovely, that.

More than make up for the lack of local games coming up from League 2!

(If we're allowed in, obviously!)

As I’ve said before The Cowley brothers are being found , they’ll be at Southend within 2 years

My son-in-law is a terrier so when we play them away I'll be OK for a lift.
That's if they do come down. I hope that they stay up though for him and his family.

In massive trouble along with Stoke, if anything I think Barnsley have got half a chance of survival with other teams in free fall

If Huddersfield come down like Sunderland they will have two years of parachute payments. Didn't help Sunderland but 35/40m in the next two years will make it a bit lobsided.

They can have as much money as they like but they'll still have a salary cap to work to the same as everybody else when it gets rubberstamped.

The parachute money has been used by the new owner to purchase the club from Dean Hoyle apparently .

The club still owe Dean Hoyle £43m from the loans he made to the club pre PL days .

Another financial meltdown on its way here by the looks of it .

How can money coming into the club be used by a buyer to buy the club. Until he is the owner, surely he hasn't got access to any club funds? Sounds very suspect?

A friend of mine tried to buy Huddersfield last year with his own money  - the offer was rejected. He was backed up with some proper investment from business partners abroad too.

Well I work between Barnsley and Huddersfield and the town lads tell me that's how the club was purchased .

When it comes to football finance anything goes it seems , you can even sell the ground to yourselves these days .

I'd imagine they are spot on with it because you'd imagine they'd be paying Hoyle back at least with the parachute money but they seem not to have a pot to pyss in .

Hoyle loaned them another £20m when they were in their second season in the PL because they completely ran out of cash .

They've burned in excess of well over £200m to end up in the bottom 3 in the Championship .

Absolutely ridiculous .

Google Malcolm Glazer and how he bought Man Utd.

Didn’t he effectively take out a mortgage to buy the club.?

Surely there would be some common sense used. If for example stadiums are closed until October they should organise the long trips for this time period. Ensuring all local-ish games are held when fans can come into the stadium thus increasing attendances.

In effect yes, but using the club's assets as security instead of using his own assets. Which is like taking out a mortgage on your house but using nest door's house as security. And that took Man Utd from being a debt-free club to having a a debt of about £270mill (plus interest payments on the debt).

So basically using Man Utd's own money to buy the club.

Didn't he then loan them some money as well so that they were at one stage about £540 million in debt?
I think that they also wanted to pay some club loans off early that were at a lower interest rate than their own loans.

Google Malcolm Glazer and how he bought Man Utd.
didn't he just take out a huge mortgage on man utd, hence huge yearly interest payments.   Not the same as was suggested earlier surely?

But with football finances these days,. Nothing would surprise me...

It was, and is, much worse than just taking out a mortgage;
