This, from the Ipswich forum gets it.

"One Positive. For all that Doncaster outplayed us, ran rings around us and generally showed us how to it, there aren't many in this division as good as them."

That's the key, we made them look "shite" to be honest. They started off good and were decent all the first half. In the second half, we forced the mistakes and made mincemeat of their defenders. Just far too good for them.

Josh Sims is way too good for this league. How on earth has Darren Moore got him to come to Doncaster?

Ipswich are a good team no doubt and their fans shouldn't be beating themselves up over this result.

The game was in the balance going into the second half. The reason we came out on top in my view is that we worked really hard to earn it, showing great discipline in our shape, making it extremely difficult for Ipswich and then pressing and springing forward quickly.

Notice we didn't give many cheap free kicks away either, not handing the initiative back to them. We forced them into errors and for once, we punished them rather than letting them off the hook which we have done previously.

Yes, I thought Sims had a good home debut, getting better as the game progressed, as did Smith. Sims certainly has great pace and is quick off the mark anticipating possible errors from their back line. Will be interesting to see how he develops even further.

I saw one fan say the only positive was Kayden Jackson’s COVID-19 test

As good as the TEAM were, Ipswich were S@*&e, and I mean proper S@*&e..we even scored for em...

I can't make my mind up from that 90 mins, I was confident we would rip this league a new one before, but now :boxing:

They weren't shite for the first 20 minutes. I thought we were going to get a proper towsing the way they started off. Slick, fast passing. Hard press. Getting the ball into dangerous areas.

Then we settled down and made them look shite.

Ahh didn't see the first 30 mins, I was caught out by the 7pm kick off - I still feel it was a very strange watch, played with a languid preseason style at times..which when you think about that, you have to wonder how good can they be.

That’s how I saw it too.

If Sims has the chance of a medal or a promotion on his cv he might prefer to stay here for the season rather than take his chance with a loan to a Championship club.
