A1 Slip road Loversall
« on December 22, 2020, 10:17:10 am by Donnywolf »
Noticed the other day the signs were still alongside Amazon on M18 just before J3 saying slip road to A1 North is closed

I have been avoiding going that way for months but without "reliable" traffic news now TraxFM has gone is it actually still closed please
Cheers DW

I always ignore the road closed signs around our neck of the woods.

The other day on the way home in Beltoft it said road closed to West Butterwick with a diversion through Derrythorpe and Trent bank. I ignored the sign only to find a couple of cones around a pothole on the lane and carried on home. When I got home my Mrs, who works in Scunny, said that there was a road closed sign for Butterwick coming from Derrythorpe down Trent bank! Unbelievable that some idiot had put a road closed sign at each end of the village when it wasn't and also a road closed sign on the diversion route!

The other week I went down the road past Epworth Turbary towards Wroot ignoring the road closed sign, same again a couple of cones around a pothole.

However last week I ignored the road closed sign by the Reindeer at Sandtoft towards the Green Tree at Hatfield. I was half way down the road at around 6.30am in the pitch black when I hit a massive bump where they were scraping away the road surface! You can't win them all! Luckily the Subaru can take a knock or two.  :)

I ignored the same sign on Sandtoft Road last week after seeing traffic coming the opposite way, I probably hit the same bump and in the dark, well I say a bump it felt more like a brick wall

It was a big 'un. When I got to work I got that car on the ramp to give it the once over to make sure it was ok.
Hope your motor was ok too.

I ignored a road closed sign on the A18 a while ago. Met the sight of a car wrapped round a tree and the police cleaning up. Won't be doing that again...

Not sure what they tried to achieve, the road still feels like you’re on a rollercoaster, I went down there yesterday

All the roads around there are shocking. Idle Bank, the one from Sandtoft down towards WWS and Wroot is terrible. It doesn't help with the maniacs from North Lincs Aggregates trying to run you into the ditch. The road is not big enough for that type of traffic.

You think it’s bad in a car then you should try cycling on it as they come past!

I can't imagine it's much fun. It's dark, narrow and the verges are very soft. It's only a few month back a truck ended up on it's side hanging over the ditch. It should be a 7.5 t weight limit on there.

The last time I went down that road a lorry kept coming at me when he had a chance to pull to one side, my back wheel slipped off the road surface toward the bid wide deep ditch, thought I was going to slide towards the ditch for a moment, but recovered it
