I know he wasn't too well a while ago but how about Glyn Snodin? He certainly has plenty of experience as a number 2 and im sure the fans would be happy.

Again, why? or is it just a dig at the purported lack of ambition and will to spend money, the myth of which still lives on to this day despite it obviously not being true.
