That worked, didn't it?

Surely we're in a similar situation, and Butler is going to need some help from an experienced head (either as assistant or in partnership) until the end of the season.

Expectations are what it boils down to . Has Moore leaving , altered what can still be achieved or spoiled it or opened up a fresh opportunity to see things from another's perspective. A player manager ( Butler) is going to be different approach and can Butler get the best out of the team without putting even more pressure for him to play or not . We are good side on paper but motivating players into another’s tactics when it’s been drilled into you another way . I hope Butler had the respect of ALL the players or it could descend into a case of  too many cooks .

The thing is that Butler will have been listening to other players’ gripes and concerns about our playing, tactics and team selection. Maybe he knows what needs doing and some players that weren’t happy over the last few games might just flourish.
Only time will tell. One thing is for sure I’m sure that Andy will demand commitment from all those who pull the shirt on. Any slackers might be pulled or not even selected. It will be interesting to see his team selection and where he plays them.

Interesting that comments like this are coming out of the woodwork now how many are true and what are people not saying?

I think this could spur the players on to prove that Moore should have stuck with us. If I was butler my team talk would be prove him wrong.

Butler will give everything for drfc in these matches if it works then fantastic, for me Butler has been given it for continuity he knows the club and players inside out

Butler isn’t going to be a player manager though.

A similar situation all round. I am convinced to this day that Jones was in charge that year. Butler should have the same connection with the dressing room as Jones did. We never looked back when Saunders left. It wasn’t pretty but we got results. This could have come just at the right time. Every cloud.
