I’m afraid there will be a huge reduction in ticket sales next season - fans have lost the habit of going to games, plus we are rubbish to watch. I wanted AB to succeed but it’s just not working. The Board should be working on getting a replacement in by the end of the season so that he can sort a squad out.
This!
I had a year away from Rovers a few years ago and it was exhilarating, not just with the time but with the equivalent money I was spending. I've done 2 games (both away, the Keepmoat experience does even less for me) since that year hiatus and have zero regret about it, I can't see a time where I return for a home game any time in the future.
This last year will have shown a load more people just how poor the bang for buck is with football and the collapse in form as a result of an awful business decision to appoint a rookie manager will have hit the casual fan even more.

This won't just be a Rovers issue, its clearly going to be pretty wide spread across all tiers of football but I can certainly see us taking a bigger kicking than most. Luckily for us we have Club Doncaster to fall back on so the stability shouldn't be affected.

Wes, I'm not wanting to sound disrespectful here, but why are you posting on here?

You're obviously no longer a DRFC supporter.

I am in as such that I watch the highlights, follow the Rovers news and check the score regularly enough when we're playing. However when it comes to putting my hard earned cash and time forward I admit I don't get the enjoyment I used to and looking at attendances across football as a whole I'm not alone in this choice.

Going to the football becomes a habit. I never missed a game for years. Then my mother fell ill and passed away I stopped going and have just never got the habit back. It will be a nationwide issue for football clubs and rugby and any sport where spectators go. Crowds will  be down imo. Hope I'm wrong and we get 10 k every week but I doubt it.

Probably just a fan then?

Fan, or fanatic to use the full word, I would say lives and breathes the club and wears their heart on their sleeve.
Every thing they feel, runs deep and sometimes their passion boils over, Wether it be a positive way or negative.

Supporter, I'd say takes the rough with the smooth, and much more level headed about things. Which sometimes from the perspective of the fanatic seems like apathy.

Both types love the club, but express it in different ways, and sometimes clash with each other about certain things.

Me, I'd say I'm a fanatic.

I think that age and circumstances play a part in a fan or supporter's relationship with the club. When you are a single and have few commitments you can attend games whenever and wherever you want , usually with mates. You get married leave home buy or rent your own house in a different area, lose contact with some mates and money is tight. You have other things to worry about. You are still a fan but can't or don't give as much attention to the team. It doesn't make you less of a fan, it just means that you have other things in your life that need a slice of your time and attention.
I still feel very disappointed when we lose and it does take the edge of my day. If I still lived in Donny I would still have my season ticket and rarely miss a game. I only live an hours drive away but I no longer enjoy the trail across Leeds and the A1 especially as I would now be on my own most journeys. I have two lottery tickets,  pay for ifollow and Copps's podcasts plus make donations to the club. That is my way of keeping contact with and helping my club. I will still watch as and when I can at the Keeepmoat and maybe you class me more as a supporter than a fan. People that know me in Leeds and Bradford have called me Donnydave for years so they might regard me more as a fan of over 60 years though.

I emailed the club the other day asking about when season tickets go on sale, because I intend to buy one as soon as they do. The reason behind this is that I am a Doncaster Rovers supporter NOT a Doncaster Rovers fan, they are my team and have been since I was 12, I’m 57 now and the highs, even though there might only be a few totally out weight the lows. Its time some people who post on here give their heads a shake and take stock of their time following Doncaster Rovers and the highs and lows they have seen

Absolutely spot on Draytonian.

I'd pay THIS SEASONS prices without a second thought to help my club EVEN if there were another wave of Covid which meant another part or full season without being able to attend live games.

Alan (you might see me you might not) Southstand calls us 'The rose tinted Brigade', in doing so he clearly thinks that by 'herding' those true supporters & giving them a slap down name is his ploy to deflect the fact that he is clearly a fickle fan, what a saddo. I've seen worse 'collapses' as he calls it during my years supporting my club & they & the 150 mile round trip to home games have not stopped my support.

It's so easy to turn up wearing red & white & sit in the sun watching a winning team as the 20,000+ did in the play off Final at Wembley, but where are the 15,000 odd 'Alan Southstands' when the team is struggling & the club needs their support? Probably sat at home watching Leeds on Sky in the Premiership or perhaps on this forum crying 'Whoa, whoa who can blame us if we stay away?'.

Pathetic imposters.

Colin you don’t know who Alan is. He like me have followed DRFC for years. From league to Conference and  back stood at Belle Vue and many Conference grounds. At Stoke when we were promoted back into the league. To the Keepmoat where we were both season ticket holders. We’ve been to many league and Cup games supporting DRFC. From Everton, Tottenham Hotspur’s and in the cage at Norwich. We  have our views the way we believe the club should progress we do not follow in blind faith but we both support our club. So Shame on you for using his name to make your point.

Safe to say I haven't always agreed with Alan, but he's never come across as being some kind of fickle part-timer.

I wouldn’t take any bets on that, Alias.

The rose-tinted brigade will still be there, of course, but I’ll warrant this collapse (and COVID) will have put many people off. And, who could blame them?

I was replying to a post in which he'd responded to RoversAlias who'd said he'd hope fans wouldn't not come or buy season tickets for next year because of 2 bad months.

Shame on me?! I don't write posts calling supporters who will carry on supporting Rovers as 'Having rose tinted glasses' nor do I sympathise with those who won't support Rovers because were on a bad run by saying if they don't turn up 'Who can blame them'.

That's not a post a true Rovers supporter would write I don't care how many of the 'big games' you've watched with him.
