I had a decent bet at 3/1 as I thought it was good value but it seems even a posh 2nd 11 are to good for us!!  :headbang:

Atrocious defending yet again, this time against the second string of Peterborough. Time and time again, the softest of soft touches at the back. A distinctly average ball into the box from a set piece, total powder puff defending. Simple header for Mason. It’s beyond a joke.

Third goal. Abysmal defending from yet again a wide ball. Totally weak and utterly risible defending. This is the worst defensive unit I can remember since 97/98. It is an embarrassment to Copps in his final game.

It has been the same for ages now. It is a very bad defensive unit. At the heart of all our problems is this chocolate fireguard of a back line. The softest touch in League One. Nothing ever changes. Awful.

I said on the Donny v posh  thread that DF will probably run the rule over his fringe players.....it appears that they are far better than our first eleven...

maybe when he (DF) gets the full financial backing from his dodgy car salesman of a board to strengthen the existing squad, he might drop a few crumbs in our direction....

It’s not all down to the defence,
We’ve nothing protecting them in midfield either,
Nobody closing people up down up front,
This defence was good earlier in the season and all four have been good players for us over the years.
It’s what’s in front of them that’s the main issue

JESUS. The fourth. Words cannot explain how weak that was. Could that be the weakest goal all season? Perhaps the Sunderland goals were weaker. Any and all in that back line need giving their cards. Absolutely dreadful defending.

They have only had 7 shots on goal and scored 4. This is not us being overrun through midfield. It is just a weak defence unable to deal with any ball in to the box from wider areas or defending edge of the box. It isn’t a good defensive unit and what was average at best got rapidly worse. There is no way back for pretty much everyone in that defence now.

We are getting a drubbing - and it is fully deserved.

Roll on next season.....

We need to put this season to bed and look to the future.

Blocking shots isn’t just down to the defence either,
I’m not arguing that our defence is any good I’m pointing out it’s far too simplistic to think we’re conceding so many goals just because of the defence

It isn’t the case

Look at the squad Peterborough have. If we have any ambitions of promotion, we need a squad of similar quality.

I am actually lost for words.

Where is Greaves playing, not sure where he is playing.
He needs to be in front of the back 4

It is a complete joke. We are letting them have the freedom to run at our defence at will.
If Butts cant see the formation is wrong then sorry he most certainly should not be the manager anytime soon.

I am so so disappointed that Copps is finishing with this shambles of a performance from his team mates.

Bang on Dickos. If people can’t see the midfield is non existent when we don’t have the ball then they are watching something different to those of us that do.

We had a squad of a similar standard when fergie was here,
But what we have now is just a shambles

Although this squad did manage a 2-2 draw away against Peterborough's first choice 11 when they still needed points.

CBcb seriously I know your entitled to your opinion but it is not the defence that is the main fault.
There is no protection in front of them whatsoever.
We had the same defence which was one of the best in the league in 1st half of the season

Are you really trying to say this squad is good enough?
It’s a disgrace

I'm making a point about an absymal attitude and lack of professionalism.

Lol what.

It was a game that didn't matter. Chesterfield beat us in a friendly 4-0 a couple seasons ago then hot relegated. Would you have wanted us to sign players from them?

They are professional footballers and it should matter. It was embarrassing, disgraceful, pathetic name your own words. But most of all unacceptable.

We are not defending as a team. You have got it in for our back 4,your opinion of course but Dickos and I can see it and am sure there are many others that do.

For the first and fourth goal, the midfield - or specifically and unfortunately young Greaves on these two occasions - were awol: didn’t track his marker, and then didn’t bust a gut to get back and challenge. That doesn’t help the back line. Though for the second goal a free header in the 6 yard box should not be allowed. Third goal - the ball wouldn’t have got the scorer’s head if it wasn’t for Tom’s deflection.
So not just the back line.
