Well, he certainly hasn't come here to warm the bench. Sorry Louis but your development is coming as a back up

Difficult for Wellens after he said to Louis "go and fetch the No.1 jersey before pre-season"  The trouble is that  LJ hasn't exactly excelled in pre-season and it might be that we need to go with Pontus to start with.
Guess it depends on what he looked like in training.  He's an imposing lad - nearly 4 inches bigger than Louis....

Jones has got to play poorly or get injured before that happens RR, what if he plays well and he is capable of doing so because he did last season.
MM I think you might have jones height from a couple of years ago

OK - but unless he has sprouted in the last two weeks - he ain't anywheer near 6'4"  OK he might be bigger than wiki says, but he isn't commanding.  Not saying that is everthing, but (personally) I like a keeper who can dominate the box.... OK he may not get down a quick to save shots lower down, but I think a dominating keeper gives the back four confidence.....

I believe he will start tomorrow I think Richie as seen enough mistakes by Jones in preseason to ratify that decision

I know Jones is one of our own but that’s not a reason to play him if there’s a better option. After a poor pre season this guy looks a better option to me and I expect him to start tomorrow.

Wait and see, the fact is he (Jones) saw off and was every bit as good as two England age group internationals last season, and looked just as good and made no more mistakes than them and has more experience at English league level than this lad coming in.
They will both be needed in the season, and I would not be surprised if the new boy get's a run out at Walsall Tuesday night.

Butler chose him and left ou Balcombe so he didn’t see any body off. He chose to play our young lads that’s why we lost so many games at the end. Jones performances in preseason have been littered with mistakes that cost goals. So it’ll be down to Richie to decide

The thing is, Brian, those good performances were in empty stadiums. It could be that playing in front of crowds has unsettled him a bit.

I fully expect Pontus to start tomorrow, and maybe Louis in the League Cup at Walsall on Tuesday.

There is no way this lad has come in to sit on the bench. There’s no way we would have got a player of this standard if he’s not coming in to play games

Wellens said he would gone Jones a chance and he has in pre season. It’s his own fault he’s not taken it.

Jones did well last season and potentially was our best keeper of the 4 but he's been poor in pre-season so it is worth giving Dahlberg a go if Wellens is impressed. Jones will get his opportunity but he needs to seize it and force himself back into the team.

We aren’t going to leave an International keeper on the bench

After some very poor performances and possibly poor attitude but then you could point that finger at most of last season’s squad

If I'm wrong, I could look a bit of a turnip!

more like a turnip for the books signing him .. Could Pontus ... Pilot a promotion push

the question is .... is he any good on high crosses

Glad Wellens read my post about that trialist goalkeeper  :suicide:

This loan, though gratefully accepted has all the hallmarks of the Kongolo loan, if he's here and he's fit he plays.

I think Jones has had a poor pre season and he still needs time to develop to the level i think he will eventually attain, until then this guy will play and they can both help each other with their game.
