Wow - I for one will miss his contributions massively because in the times he isnt on - the stand ins never seem as good

Seems like a great bloke to have a Pint or 2 with - I would pay

Loved when he first came to notice and he ended almost every sentence with "indeed" - as in that was a very good cross "indeed". He must have been coached out of it

Looked everywhere for out takes when Celtic signed Pierre van Hooijdonk . Jeff did piece to camera trying to pronounce his name - and kept lousing up. In the end he was laughing before he even attempted next take

Love his obvious fan worship of Hartlepool which sends him into raptures or depression - the best I remember was them getting panned by Wrexham maybe 6-0 or 6-1. I think Juan Ugarte got 4 maybe all 6 for Wrexham. Every time JS tried to catch up results up would pop a goal for Wrexham which he tried to avoid but all the others were pointing out with glee

Anyone who doubts Jeff's genius should watch the BBC's knock off equivalent show.
Having dumped Sky a year ago, I'm forced to watch the Beeb's effort and I can safely say, the only pleasure I get is watching Garth Crooks morph into Jabba the Hutt with each passing week.

How could Final Score be a "knockoff" when it started in 1958 and Soccer Saturday didn't even exist until decades later?

David Coleman in a dinner jacket wasn't quite the same format though was it?
Mind you, I would take the old juddery teleprinter over the smooth running thing used today.
It used to print out half the result, then stop for a think before spluttering out the 2nd half. ie Barnsley 1 Doncas......... (And in those seconds waiting, I would offer my soul to God, Lucifer, Harold Krishna and any other deity I thought would guarantee a '2'. Rarely worked though)

The name Final Score might be older, but the format they use now is pure Soccer Saturday.

Wonder if it's anything to do with Sky sacking  his mates Tiss Thommo and Charlie, and replacing them with these 2nd rate pundits.

Iconic legend that brightened up many an afternoon.

Sadly for me his reputation tarnished slightly by his relentless involvement in betting adverts.

Agreed, I can’t stand Tim Sherwood, the Gangsta Clinton Morrison and Neil ( I scored against Arsenal at the Kop end ) Mellor
