Disappointingly, this hasn't turned out to be a Quo appreciation thread.

Get down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Get down deeper and down

I want all the world to see
To see you're laughing, and you're laughing at me
I can take it all from you
Again again again again
Again again again and deeper and down

Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Get down deeper and down

I have all the ways you see
To keep you guessing, stop your messing with me
You'll be back to find your way
Again again again again
Again-gain-gain-gain deeper and down

Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Get down

Get down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Get down deeper and down

I have found you out you see
I know what you're doing, what you're doing to me
I'll keep on and say to you
Again again again again
Again-gain-gain-gain deeper and down

Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Down down deeper and down
Get down

Hide,Longstaff,Downing and Marquis ? The latter two are at present Portsmouth players, Longstaff will one of the brothers from Newcastle, but Hide the only sportsman I can think of called Hide is Herbie Hide the cruise weight boxer and think he might be a tad out of shape now for a relegation battle. Dave Allen the WhiteRhino might be a better shout as he’s over 20 years younger and with him living locally the club wouldn’t have to pay for a room at The Crown in Bawtry.

I think he means Paul Marquis and Stuart Doling.

Made a few nondescript appearances I think. Just been reading an article about his demise. Apparently we paid £70k for him. Words fail me.

Au contraire! His five appearances for us in the 1996/97 season were anything but nondescript. Well, almost.

Of those five appearances, he started three games. He managed to get subbed off in each of these starts, in the 9th minute, 22nd minute and the 55th minute. His 9 minute cameo before substitution was actually a start away at the Hartlepool game where Colin Cramb scored an extremely rare away league hat trick in January 1997. Doling saw all of those goals (23, 53 and 60 minutes) from the warmth of the subs bench, recovering from his 9mins.

I was at that game. I don’t remember anything about Doling’s display! It stands out to me as one of those games where it felt like we had a hero (in Colin Cramb) that up until his arrival I thought only other clubs had.

I didn’t know Alan Lancaster has passed away last September. Sad news. At the peak, Quo were a powerhouse.

If you Google Stuart Doling there’s an article from the The News ( Portsmouth paper ) April 21 , it’s a very interesting read

Genuinely one of my favourite OPs ever this and sums up everything about the modern day supporter.

"Just go get all these players...it'll ONLY cost £600k for FIVE months..."

Only? I know clubs have lots of money these days but ONLY £600k? Easy when it's not your money isn't it?

Can you give me the money for my next 10 season tickets then in that case? Come on, it's ONLY about £3-4,000.
