Going a goal down
« on January 19, 2022, 08:04:08 am by mrfrostsdad »
By my reckoning we've gone a goal down in 19 games this season, and picked up one point from those 19 games (Crewe away)
I know confidence must be at an all time low in the team, but is there another reason? (Apart from us being crap for most of the season)
I'm trying to think how being a goal down is basically a guaranteed defeat, and is this a football league record?

Going a goal down wouldn’t be much of a problem if we could score goals, as we don’t then it is always going to be difficult and in Rovers case, nearly impossible to come back from.

I'll be honest glosterred, I think the biggest issue is the defence. I know we can't score, but if we could keep a few clean sheets it's a point every game (no, we won't keep a clean sheet every week)
We may just get a penalty, an own goal or a mis-hit shot and get 3 points.
Prime example being Morecombe away. 3-0 up at half time and we got nothing. If we could sort the defence out and not concede so many, the points would slowly build up. Probably not enough to save us this season

The majority of games all over the world, when a side goes in front they tend to win the game. We have a side lacking in confidence so they won’t tend to come from behind, the mindset is “Here we go again!. That is why you need a good balance of young and. Experience and youthful enthusiasm in the right mix, makes a good side.
