Fergie always played Rowe left in a diamond and while Rowe was able to contribute still he’d spend half the game running from the middle to close down a winger or fullback which didn’t help him.

Horrible shape Fergie was obsessed with and imo was one of the reasons we pushed on with McCann who dropped it.

At for Rowe either as a 10 to get close to the forward or left in a 442 would where I’d want him

All players should be vocal on the pitch, passing information to others and encouraging them.
Yes, I do know that some don’t.
Some footballers are leaders and some are not though hound. Same in any walk of life. There are leaders and followers.

The point is we do need leadership on and off the pitch. Far more than we saw from the players last season.

We only have to look at 2012/13 and Rob Jones & many of the others in that team.
Any of us could have been manager & got that team promoted. We wouldn’t have needed to say anything.
It would be done for us.
