In his recent interview GM explained that players who had been participating for an hour in eleven v eleven training games this week would not play at Nuneaton .

The trialists today were not good enough.

Our two new forwards look handy and Clayton was in control

Tomlin a no from me. Not the type of player we should be looking at his age, past his best and no sell on value.
I yr contract maybe. Would he do a job at this level for us?
Has been a very creative player with a few goals in him.
Yes he will be past his peak but ability is permanent. If he is fit and has the right attitude, wants another promotion on his CV then why not?

Would he do a job for us at this level? Is that a serious question? A fully fit tomlin would be a great asset with his experience around the team.

Dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t when it comes to the players we get, either not experienced enough or over the hill…. I for one would welcome some wise heads with promotion experience around our young team!
Hang on a minute. I haven’t said he isn’t good enough nor did I say he was too old.
I asked the question with a ?
I have no idea as to his fitness or as to whether he is still anywhere near the player he has been in the past.

I am all for having  a spread of young players U23 those in the 24 to 29 age group and 3/4 older players on their 30’s
No player is too old if they are fit and can contribute on & off the pitch.  Copps is the best example of that.

He played 5 games of which 4 were subs I believe, after signing for them on a short term contract in January.

I’d imagine it was a bit like the Clayton situation where he turned up not up to speed.

He played a total of 142 minutes all season, in 2021/22. On one of those substitute appearances cited above, he was brought on in the 17th minute and then subbed off in the 40th minute.

Quick reflection on Nuneaton - lovely set up, friendly staff although the search was a little over the top inside the ground lol. The Head Steward was a cracking bloke even bringing out drinks at half time and giving teamsheets out. Their coach never shut up - he was like the bas**rd son of Richie and Vanilla Ice

From what I understand ( think it was reported in DFP ) some of the players such as Biggins & Molyneux have been playing behind closed door games during the week. Now i don’t know whether these are against other clubs or are in house games between 2 Rovers 11’s

Obviously GM is only going to give a certain no of minutes to each of the players at this stage.
I am pretty sure Biggins and Molyneux are fit. We haven’t been told otherwise.

If they don’t play at Spennymoor or even if they do, i would we expect they will be playing against Huddersfield.

Maybe GMc and Copps deliberately kept Biggins and Molyneux away from the Armthorpe and Nuneaton games, as some of the tackling in lower league games can be a bit mis-timed and let's say, agricultural. After all, if you had a prize Abereden Angus bull, you wouldn't let it go roaming around in a field full of Rhino's would you!

Quite like that analogy rover-n-out.

Don’t think that pitch at Armthorpe was fit for any Angus bulls. There was very little grass on it.
The Rhinos would have been distressed as it was too dry.
