My first game at Belle Vue was my second DRFC game and I stood on the popside with my dad, September 1980, I was 8 years old - during the game he caught the ball, handed it to me & I threw it back on so a throw in could be taken - I was hooked from that very moment.

The urinals round the back left a lot to be desired .

The night of the Darlo 0 1 game was a case in point SS

Was it 22k plus attendance .

Was it Harry Kirk Darlos left winger ?

What a night apart from the 0 1 result with what some say was a cross but I still say brill shot into Town End net ... Guttted
Dead on John it was a great goal.
I remember the 6-3 in early 64 ? when Ray Yeoman would sign autographs on Doncaster paper.

Sorry meant to say wouldn’t sign on Doncaster paper as he was so peed off with losing another game against Rovers by a big score.

I seem to remember that in my early days (late 40s, early 50s) you had to pay extra to transfer from the Rossington End to the Popular Stand. After all, it had a roof! There was a gate just out of picture right at the top of the wall - and of course the wall prevented "free" movement into there.

I certainly remember the 10 - 0 at home to Darlington in 1964. I always used to stand on the Kop. Got the rovers special bus every home game from Thorne.

Yes, there was a gate at the top where you had to pay to transfer to the Popular stand.

There was never a wall or fence the last time I attended a game at BV, but Rovers were still my team

Wall always there. Spikes on top too. Remember a game where ball landed on spike needless to say it burst.

I started in 1962. The wall was always there, but the spikes were quite a bit later I think

I can also remember the game when the ball burst. It was against Shrewsbury, 66/67 time. Keeper booted it clear and it landed straight on the spikes. Probably biggest cheer of the night.
