Odd one this. The cps only usually recommend charging if there is a realistic chance of successful prosecution.

What I think is wrong is the fact that the jury couldn’t decide on 2 charges so they’re going for a retrial. For me that means he’s been tried and there wasn’t enough there for the jury to convict.  I know it doesn’t mean he’s innocent but that’s the idea behind a jury system. 
He’s been tried. Are the CPS suddenly magic some new evidence.  Would the same be happening if he wasn’t a high profile person.
