...Andy Murray has a good call on being the greatest sporting hero we have ever produced.

Not necessarily for his successes, but for the way he has driven himself to give every drop for so long.

I watched some of his match this morning. The man is unreal. He has a metal hip. He'd already played nearly eleven hours in the previous 4 days, finishing his last game at 4am, not much more than 36 hours before he started this one.

He got absolutely creamed in the first set and could barely walk between points. But he kept dragging himself back into the game. The other player would win a service game to love, then Murray would take 10 mins to hold his serve with 25 shot rallies and 6 deuces. He looked absolutely f**ked after 20 minutes, but he kept it going for nearly 4 hours till he lost.

Ended up like watching the Terminator or Robert de Niro in Cape Fear. Didn't matter how many times you thought he was crushed or destroyed, he'd keep coming back.

As I say, I don't much like tennis, but the sheer willpower and determination and mental discipline on show today was stunning to watch.

Totally agree BST. He is amazing. He could so easily just retire and enjoy a great lifestyle but his love for the sport and the competition keeps him going. I really don’t know how he can keep putting his body through it time after time.
His post match interviews have been pretty good too and the rant when he wasn’t allowed a toilet break

Absolutely stunning career , to win three Grand Slams , two Olympic Gold medals and the Davis Cup is extraordinary .

It's extraordinary because of the era he's competed in against the three greatest players of all time in Federer , Djokovic and Nadal .

Three Grand Slams in that company equals eight in any other era in my opinion .

Absolute inspiration with his determination and sheer will to win , a true competitor who has rinsed everything out of himself .

My goodness why do the media always love a loser? Like Nadal or Federer they all go on for too long .
