Cheer up required.

Blimey, did we win last night?

I heard someone after about half an hour saying "they've got no confidence", is it any wonder? What a mood around the place, 90% of the crowd awaiting a mis-placed pass, groan, a mistake at the back, groan, a loose ball ending up with the opposition, groan, Jonny to kick it into touch (he only did it once to my reckoning, trying to play a first time ball out to Maxwell), groan..... not exactly the twelfth man are we? Fair play to the few in the south stand that tried, despite others trying to sell the club.

Despite Tranmere having most of the ball in the first half & us huffing & puffing a bit we were at least huffing & puffing. Tommy was a bit of steel we've badly missed, even if I'm not sure he should be playing cb, Lakin added some mobility & some nice touches in midfield, Hurst looks more of a threat in the middle. We didn't warm the keepers hands but we had a few shots at least, we've seen much worse this season. Then I made the mistake of checking lucky pint at ht & realised that oh no, it was absolute dire & the end of the world, it made me wonder if Saturday was as bad as I read, missed that one.

Anyway, two goals, three points, a clean sheet ! (in no small part thanks to hartlepool's reserve keeper, well deserved after a few great saves, particularly the one he tipped onto the bar near the end).
But of course they gifted it to us. Close has a go, we're always saying we don't have a go enough, deflection & it's in the net. Bloke sat nearby, slumped in his chair wallowing in it all game never flinched, arms still folded, how dare we have the cheek to have a bit of good fortune?
Then Lakin puts a great foot in high up the field, the red shirts flood forward, good ball out to Hurst who finishes confidently, we even see the game out.
But we're poor, & Tranmere are poor but should have beat us. They're a league two side, we're a league two side & guess what? We're in league two.
We're not gonna make the play offs playing like that. We'll we've been playing like that, or worse all season & we're two points away so it won't take much. You can call it a poor league or whatever, at the end of the season we'll finish exactly where we deserve to but come on let's at least want to finish as high as poss, it feels like some fans would rather have a good moan.
I've stopped coming on here in the immediate aftermath of a defeat, don't take the forum away from me after a win for Christ's sake, we won !!!
Yes the last two years have been tough but has it come to the point where we can't even enjoy a 2-0 win?
I even enjoyed a pie &:a brew before the game, got served quick & it was all served hot. I paid by card mind, risky I know, what will the government do with that nugget of information they have on me now? Don't tell em how many sugars I had, shhhhh...

Anyway, I'm gonna enjoy the points & celebrate my 50th with a trip to the gym & maybe a pint at dinner time. Have a great day everyone, up the Rovers !

Agree with you. Thought to myself last night that I bet these lads wish they could have another covid season, so they don't have to play in front of our "supporters".

A win is a win, I detect a little bit of banter aimed at some previous posts, the going cashless is unfair to all the elderly supporters who either don’t want to, don’t know how to, or simply can’t use their cards, and to this era I think it’s unfair

Happy birthday Spud. Three points definitely reason for a smile, although gym on your birthday is cruelty!

Atmosphere and encouragement for the team is chicken and egg, I don't condone abusive chants / shouts but I don't think anyone could be sufficiently stimulated by the first 60 mins to get excited or feel positive. After the goal the positivity flowed through the team again and the crowd picked up - we need reasons to get excited - play some attacking football, get more forwards on the pitch and play an attacking formation, and get stuck in - Rowe got good applause for big challenges first half and Olowu the same second half. We do need to be more positive as a crowd, but we also need more to be positive about. We need to build on the win and start to put a run together and the majority of the crowd will turn back I think!

TBF it will be the same up and down the country..... we are not exceptional in having fickle fans who are happy to moan when things go wrong...  Saying that, I don't think anyone enjoys it when your team gets beaten, but some let their feelings run away a bit...

Anyway - well done Rovers - not the best performance, but perhaps we were due a bit of luck and this may change our fortunes...

Happy birthday Spud, enjoy your day however you choose to spend it.
Like you, I choose to at least try to see some positives in a game, especially after a win.
I've had to adopt a mentality of bad results and performances not getting me down, as I'm getting on a bit now, and even my wife has mentioned many times in the past how Rovers losing and the bad performances effect my mood. It's genuinely not good for me, and I don't like moping around the place like a bear with a sore a**e!
We are all Rovers through and through, and so many of us must feel unhappy at the way things are going on and off the field atm.
I'm with you on your above post, and although I can only speak for myself, I'm gonna continue to try getting behind the lads, and hope that DS and Copps van get these lads gelling together to make us feel much more positive towards our team. Enjoyed reading your post Spud, and I feel exactly the same.
From one alleged "Happy clapping, rose tinted spectacle wearing" Rover, cheers!!

It is wonderful that Rovers have 3 points in the bag after a bad run, hopefully they can repeat the result on Saturday, a good performance will be a bonus.

What a great post. As you say we are a league 2 team and we did what we were supposed to do and win game of football at lge 2 level yet that is still not good enough for people. Footie is strange and games are often won by a team not particularly playing well but they have fulfilled their objective to get three points which is what everyone wants, players, managers and fans. Yeah it could be more entertaining but that will happen probably less often than not but that's the nature of where we are at the moment. I blame too much coverage of Prem lge matches for lower league fans to moan so easily as they expect their team to play like those Prem teams.

Oh and happy birthday!!
