In my opinion, we need basically a whole new midfield with some grit about them. It’s been one of our biggest problems now for some time this midfield.

Get rid, not what we need in this league and likely too expensive to be a back up.

He is a contracted player and part of a strong squad we will add to in the summer ask Copps.

Our highest earner, and our poorest return, get rid but who to? If next year is an option year it's a no way from me.

The only way he'll leave is if he's sold.

Best we could hope for is to terminate his contract by mutual consent. Get rid

Technically competent but goes missing more than he turns up. Wouldn't shed a tear if he went.

Think it’s easy to make him out a scape goat, but with better players around him, he has the ability to be a great player and certainly at this level.

Part of BCs problem is he can't pass it backwards to the defenders as he doesn't trust them on the ball so he holds onto to the ball too long.

Not a fan, he's soft and negative and soooooo slow. We can't build a breaking attack with him on the pitch as he won't move the ball forward and needs a few seconds to stand still before deciding to pass the ball where it's just come from.

The defenders have a bigger problem with him not showing for the ball and as you explained putting it backwards back into trouble, just a short passer for stats, never the forward pass all from you to me. get shut there are better players in the conference north with more energy and ambition.

I agree he would look better in a decent team but we didn’t buy him as a bit-part player who relies on others to make things happen (we have plenty of those who cost us a lot less)- sadly he is not one of the leaders we need to start turning things around

I implore you all to listen to his interview on radio Sheffield from last night. The interviewer asked him what is it that the manager is trying to get you to do at the minute and why isn’t it clicking? He couldn’t f**king answer the question. If they don’t know then who does??

Just read the Yorkshire post article on last nights game.

Some Schofield quotes:

“In the first half we were poor, we played into Stevenage’s hands and we played to their strengths,”

“For some reason, we couldn’t get the passes in behind their back line and we suffered a lot in terms of the ball coming straight back to us.”

Sounds like he’s rocked up to Stevenage with no idea what they play like and just said “give it a good go lads.”

He's a good player who needs good players in & around him, personally I'd keep him, would be an asset next season if he gets the license to get forward more. He scored several for Pompey from in & around the box, something I have hardly seen him do here, wonder who that's down to.

He's scored a couple of good ones for us and certainly looks like a footballer.  But if he genuinely was unable to answer that question is that his fault or is it just confirmation of what many on here already believe, i.e. Shcofield himself doesn't know what he's doing so how can we expect his players to know?

10 players around him so his lack of fight and control goes unnoticed.

I believe if he had a ball winner alongside him, he would set up & score goals. Plays too deep for me, & there are few options going forward for him in this pathetic system.

He's a creative player but he needs a ball-winner next to him. He's not had one since he's been here.

Maybe Richie will take him again at LO? He’s got ability but when you look at it he was never a big statement signing top L1 midfielder like was made out when we bought him.

In a 3 he’d be the luxury player. I think we need to start signing the workhorses then getting the luxury players. Trying to run before we can walk and all that

I would have no problems watching us play like Stevenage and finish 3rd next season. None at all.

He did an unplanned back pass when stood facing our goal. Attempting to clear ball over his head the ball looked to hit him full in face or under his chin and went towards JM , but was cleared by a defender

For me Close should be more like a No10, creating just behind the front players, sadly we don't have the players to allow that to happen

We should get someone with proven creative output rather than hope that Close can come good in a more advanced position.
