It was the most frightening, horrifyingly terrible thing I’ve ever witnessed. Can’t comprehend what it must’ve been like to see it live - I remember being in shock I couldn’t cry. It was an horrendous decade. It felt like the ordinary football fan wasn’t considered at all with regards to safety in mind. I remember not being able to move at Goodison Park in ‘85 being packed in like sardines.

The government of the day didn’t give a damn about football fans as illustrated by how largely forgotten the people who perished at Bradford have largely been forgotten.

What happened subsequently at Hillsborough maybe could have been averted had more attention been paid on fan safety. We were treated like cattle & it was only the severity of events in Sheffield that prompted a change.

I believe that Lincoln City were Bradfords opponents that day and at the end of the Season they flew from Leeds to somewhere "abroad"

On landing back their Plane left the runway but nobody on the Plane was injured

What I know for a fact is I made an inappropriate joke while the fire was still raging which I still regret to this day and will forever more.

Time flies for sure UptonRover

The live pictures of people wandering on the pitch on fire were horrible

Yes I remember was it John Helm commenting on it and one horrifying image was a man just walking completely engulfed in flames. I’m sure John said “oh no that poor man”

I remember watching it on TV live with my parents. It was horrific how quickly the fire engulfed the stand. Etched into my memory. RIP.

The away stand behind the goal
At sincil bank is named after supporters that lost their lives at Bradford . The stand shall permanently and absolutely remain named as the Stacey West Stand in tribute to Bill Stacey and Jim West, tragically taken, along with 54 others in the 1985 Bradford Fire disaster.

That's a great thing for them to do , a meaningful tribute to those who died that day

Also brought Stadia into a new safer generation.

"Concrete Bowls" or not , at least the threat of another Bradford type fire must be close to zero

NR I never knew that thanks - that is a fitting tribute
Surreal that I had been there not long before the fire.
Was shown a video of the fire on a course once with a timer showing how quickly it happened - still hurts thinking about it very moving
