Richard wood who as just been released by Rotherham wouldn’t be a bad shout for next season he would bring Faulkner and olowu on tremendously in my opinion.

I’d rather think of Clish, Rabjohn, Wilcockson, Hazelden,, Watson, Habbin and Colin Douglas.

Richard Wood is an excellent pro - with a brilliant work ethic - pairing him up with Bobby would be a dream and hark back to the Russ Wilcox /Chris Swailes pairing. BRING IT ON.

One season with Woody and Bobby would be ready for the championship.

Yes from me too, this league has it's fair share of 'lump' strikers (Andy Cook player of the month!!) we need a Richard Wood type experienced nutter to keep lumps like Cook in their pockets.

Would be a great signing in the same mould as Rob Jones.

…. So long as we don’t make him Player Manager!

Caveat being that Wood has just played 28 league games at a very high level this season, but he would be 38 in August, whereas we signed:

Rob Jones aged 32
Russ Wilcox aged 29
Richard Naylor aged 34

You could do a lot worse than give Woody a 1, maybe even a 2, year deal.  He really is the consummate professional.  He's great in both boxes and is a genuine Millers legend following 9 years at the club.

Sadly time and tide wait for no man and more and more he was getting caught out by pacey strikers.  And it seems that every single team in the Championsip has fast and tricky strikers in abundance.

If I were Doncaster Rovers I'd be contacting Richard Wood's agent without delay.

Give him a 1 yr contract
Make him Captain

No brainer if he is still fit and fancies it.

Actually he would probably make a good manager.
Think he would know how to get out of this league.
But no let’s get someone wit a CV please

That’s like saying ‘This leather Winchester sofa would be great for sitting on to watch the telly, but hang on, let’s stick with the recliners’!

I know we’ve had some ‘heady news’ Camps but a bit early to be hitting the hard stuff!

He's totally fit Campsall.  He really looks after himself and trains like a 21 year old. Doesn't sulk if he gets dropped - he just trains even harder. Top, top bloke.

He left Rotherham because they only offered him a one year deal.

A 2+ year deal for any 37 y/o player would be absolute madness.

I think he'd do a good job for us but how could a Championship club offer him 2 years unless it had some coaching role in with it??
If he turned down a year at that level he's probably got a decent contract lined up in League 1 or 2 already lined up.

2 is a stretch for me, if promotion is the aim. I can see him doing the job in L2. L1 with another year of football in his legs? Not so sure. Copps managed it, so it's possible.

He could have the same influence as AB had, when he was alongside TA. Certainly, for 1 year in L2, it could be a shrewd move, then it depends where we are, after that.

If Close and his hoppos in front of him don't show more appetite for working harder in front of the defenders when not in possession he will feel his legs are a hundred years old by Christmas.

That's not my understanding Gaz.  I dont think hes been offered a contract at all by RUFC.

Richard Wood has indeed been released from a playing contract at RUFC. Whether that means he will be offered anything on the coaching staff time will tell. Genuinely nice guy, excellent work ethic and good footballing brain.

An interesting few months ahead!

What has it come to when we're looking forward to the prospect of signing a rotherham cast off ?!
