Matchday tickets- 14-24 year olds.
« on June 22, 2023, 09:44:29 pm by The Beast »
Now I'm not one to criticise the club and I'm more than happy with the price I pay for my season tickets but got an email today from the club and was quite surprised by the price of match day tickets for 14-24 year olds. These tickets are £18/17 for matchday, £17/16 matchday advance. Now at 22/23 you could be a fully qualified tradesman or in a graduate job so fair enough but at 14, 15, 16 it seems quite steep (especially with the death of paper/milk rounds), even at 17/18 in an apprenticeship or full time education it's a bit pricey.
I fully understand it's difficult for the club and a fine balance but we don't want to discriminate against kids for turning 14  nor do we as a club want to risk losing fans before they become full paying adults.

A season ticket for £122 is much better value.

Absolutely.  But how is an 18 quid on the day price going to attract a teenager?  I started watching rovers aged 14 when I moved back here.  It cost me £1-£5 a game. Yes that was 20 years ago but still. How many teens are going to pay that price on a whim as I did?

Under 18s should be the same price all the way down to the age of 0. They earn nothing

I'm not sure how much this is linked to recent 'trouble' with teenagers, but my opinion is that we're punishing the majority for a daft minority, and we're running the risk of losing prospective life-long fans by pricing them out of coming now.

Young people come with a set of problems to manage, but any company needs to keep refreshing it's consumer base otherwise it'll dwindle as we all get too old and infirm to come! Plus lots of the noise and energy - particularly at home games - comes from this section of fans - so maybe there was a better way of dealing with issues and engaging and managing young people so they could keep coming?

It's a genuine concern and one I know the club and the Shadow Board are continually reviewing and have done over the years. Let's not forget, those involved in reviewing prices are parents and young people themselves. I think the season memberships reflect the value we put in young people plus there's has to be an incentive to encourage folk to take up memberships or flexi memberships, so the price points are carefully considered. It's also taken into account what young uns are also expected to pay for other forms of entertainment and measuring ourselves against other football clubs.

Sorry it's a joke for them. Really poor decision this one. John Ryan wants 10k in every game. By all accounts we're on less STs than last year and going to be and on the day prices have now gone up loads for them. Empty stadium again

But they can afford a £80 pair of trainers, £150 jumper and a £400 coat.

Wtf are you talking about. Do some research, present some facts  benchmark against other clubs and their membership prices and wtf has it got to do with JR?

Have a look at ticket prices under JRs reign and tell us whether all fans in all categories are better off now or not?

Majority of our fans are either 60+ or under 18 look around on matchday. Alienating kids basically. You think a 14 year old should have to pay this?

I don't care what other clubs do. Yep Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday rip kids off. So what we have to. They're the future. Most adults in Donny are Leeds or Sheffield Wednesday fans and then the man utd and Liverpool armchair lot.

JR is trying to pack the ground out. Club haven't helped him on that one have they there.

Another factor in the pricing is supply vs demand. If we could sell out the home end most of the time then it's reasonable to suggest that the kids will come at this price, or someone else will take their place. I'm expecting an improvement in attendances this year, but it'll be an average of 8-9k which would be decent, meaning that even with a fair wind we aren't selling out.

For investment in future attendances and in helping matchday atmosphere in the here and now I'd have suggested keeping the prices low for teenagers was the way to go.

Don't try to insinuate the club is working against JR.

You've missed the point that a 14 year old don't have to pay that.

What other clubs do is relevant, particularly if you attend away matches too.

Of course we have to look at the future but if you look at the full range of ticket packages available for young people, it won't seem such a deterrent.

You could go on the Owls and Leeds forums and appeal to those from Donny who are being ripped off, and tell them the error of their ways I suppose.

Any chance SM or anyone else in regular contact with the club can get some offers for the first home game of the season? Get the place packed out if possible, build momentum with a win and how many of them would come back for more.
Just a thought.

I think the first game will sell well. New hope.

What would be better would be when we have 2 home games within 3-4 days of each other and sell 2 games for the price of x amount. Mansfield and Notts County first up
