After being so poor for a long time in cup football at last we have gone out and created interest in the club, enthused the fans with an unexpected win against higher placed opposition, and can generate some much needed extra income from a game against an attractive Premiership side. Just looking at this and other threads shows what interest can be generated by being interested in cup games, if we can combine it with a decent league season and be involved in a cup until after Christmas we could create welcome income for the January transfer window apart from getting some respect and local support back after a torrid few years.

Chesterfield, Lincoln, Rotherham and Barnsley have been to Wembley and built promotions on the money they have got from cup runs, we have been pathetic and were lucky at Chorley the season we got to the fifth round and we had a good side that season. It has cost the club a fortune compared with our local competitors. Even Rochdale earnt a million pounds to relay their pitch in a couple of seasons, one at out expense
