The Business of Cancer

Really interesting and intruiging watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_aAbyDc-Lc

Makes you wonder why people donate to it... amongst all these countless charities.

There are some interesting documentaries on there actually.

Least of all Madeline McCann... which I don't buy either as being kidnapped.

I've not got an hour or so to watch the link, but having watched my StepDad slowly die of stomach cancer and being the one who had to tell him he'd only months to live, having heard from one of my best friends he had only months to live, having watched my Mother in Law slowly die from leukimea, having help nurse my Mother after her breast cancer operation and seeing how it affected her, if by donating to  cancer charities helps in any way to help someone in the future to survive Cancer I'll continue to donate

I lost my wife and the love of my life in March something I will never get over, and such a shock  with no prior knowledge of the disease until eight weeks before she died.
She was keen as a organ donor and upset when told because of cancer she could not donate, so after much soul searching and discussion we, my wife had to sign she was in agreement and our two daughters decided to donate her body to science not easy for anyone and doubts for us all and sleepless nights but what she wanted to do and understandably not for everyone.
So her biopsies have been sent for analysis to different countries as it was a rare type of cancer, training and experimental micro surgery has been performed even the military medical team have experimented with a prosthetic leg as that is where her bone structure was attacked and disappeared  in three weeks.
The top and bottom of it is I am so proud to have been honoured to be the husband of such a woman, of my two girls who agreed to it, and if it helps one doctor, one nurse, one future patient, and any helpful medication it was worthwhile, not for everyone and hard as hell to accept, but I hope something comes of it, be it a better nurse after training, a better doctor, the experimental micro surgery to the stomach that was a   success, or medical treatment that eventually works to cure the disease.
It takes more than money to advance medical science.

You know sometimes debate can get quite heated on here with some making comments and casting aspersions about others when in effect this is just a small vacuum into people thoughts.

It doesn't define anyone, in the greater scheme of things it means nothing compared to serious issues like what Selby has had to contend with.

You have my sincere commiserations Selby for your loss and for you and your families very thoughtful actions to help others.
