Play Offs
« on November 19, 2023, 03:01:03 pm by Campsall rover »
I know it’s not all defining by any means but I think we need a min of 10 points ( preferably 12/13 )  from our next 5 League games in the run up to Christmas against Crewe A, Colchester H, Accrington A, Morecambe H, Bradford City H

So that is 3 wins and a draw. That gives us 30 points from 22 games.
We will then need probably a min of 44 points from the remaining 24 games which is top 3 form.
Tall order but I am confident we will be a very strong side in the 2nd half of the season.
I say a min of 10 points ( preferably 12/13 ) because our following 2 games are away at Notts County and Mansfield Town over Christmas.
They are potentially our 2 toughest games remaining this season on paper anyway. Anything we get from those 2 games will be a bonus.

I have a very positive vibe about Saturdays game at Crewe. I think we could well be only the 2nd team to win at Gresty road in the league.
In fact because I am going to miss it we are certain to win.

Colchester at home we really need to win that one. Will not be easy I suspect but I fancy us for the 3 points. Will be missing this one also.

Then the Cup game at Posh, which I think GM will be fired up for and will have his team fired up. I can see us sneaking a win which will give the team a massive confidence boost. Will miss this one which I am pig sick about. Should be a great away day.

Accrington away I fancy a draw.

Morecambe home, think we will win this against a decent team that sores goals.

Bradford at home, difficult to predict at this stage. What sort of form will Bradford be in by then. But as it stands right now we capable of winning that game.

So the run up to Christmas is massive. If we don’t get 10 points from these 5 games we will need to be in Champion form till the end of the season just to have a sniff of the play offs.
But I do think we will be there or there about’s at the end.

Absolutely right. I’d just add one more, the Mansfield one on 29/12. That series is one of the toughest sequences in the calendar, but once out of the way, the rest do not look nearly as formidable. Wrexham, Crewe and Stockport will test us, but they are all at home.

Last five home games have yielded 2.4 ppg. Which is excellent.
But, and here is the Achilles heel, last 5 away games have yielded just 1.2ppg.
And rovers seem unable to get a draw away from home.
Based on current last five home and away it’s possible rovers could get 10 points. They need to address away form though. And maintain home form.

Absolutely, our away form has to improve big time if we are to make the play offs.
Got a positive vibe about the Crewe game. We are due a win away and Crewe are due a defeat at home.
Think the Accrington game should give the team plenty of belief.
We just have to find that consistency now.

I would love to make the playoffs because I don’t like to think about another season in league 2, but we have been so inconsistent this season the games we ‘should’ win we’ll slip up no doubt. And then there’s the problem of our away form.

Plenty of reasons to be optimistic about reaching the play offs. In fact I'd be shocked if we didn't.

I hope you are right, but I would be more shocked if we did reach the play offs, win 1 lose 1 won’t be playoff form, needs to be a good run of 5/6 straight wins

There is no question that between now and season end rovers need to go on a decent run of wins/ draws.
But where on earth will this come from? I’m just not feeling/ seeing it . Yet.
Way too inconsistent currently .
