Populist politicians
« on December 13, 2023, 05:27:34 pm by BillyStubbsTears »
A few folk on here seem to be getting bored of our normal politicians and want a populist to shake things up a bit.

Keep your eye on Argentina. The madman they have just elected President says he's going to cut Govt spending to reduce the deficit from 5% of GDP to zero in one year.

I suspect he's going to become the world's most unpopular populist when the effects of THAT dawn on people there.

This guy? The one with the super hero alter ego "General Ancap"?

I do have some doubts about his fitness for the job, now that you mention it.

To be fair, I think that shows some semblance of authenticity and self respect. I did the same a week ago.

Let's face it, populism is growing. It's what you get with the media systems we have now, also the value systems that dominate the generations that are becoming the younger voters. Hopefully some of the people with brain cells will remain in the successful realm of politics.

He did it frequently during his testimony at the covid inquiry.

You listen to & look at him, then at Hugo Keith & have to wonder ‘Which one of these men looks most likely to have been the ex Prime Minister?’.
