York missing a trick?
« on December 13, 2023, 05:19:53 pm by Colin C No.3 »
Just spent a couple of nights in York, Christmas shopping in the Christmas Market etc., & I think the city is missing a tourist opportunity here.

It has The Jorvick Viking Centre, The Ghost Bus Tour & the zany Mad Alice’s Bloody Tour of York to name but few, but with all the Chinese, American, Asian, Arabic ‘Nations’ I picked up in such a short stay, the one thing all that ‘group’ are fascinated with is the British Royal Family.

Step up…Prince Andrew, The Duke of York!

Now I know he’s not exactly ‘flavour of the month’ with The Royals however, surely as Duke of the city he could bring in even more tourist coffers with simply a little imagination & a good sales campaign.

I’m picturing a slightly seedy looking ‘Uncle Albert’ character wearing a shabby looking poorly copied Yeomans garb ushering passers by into a dimly lit doorway surrounded by photos of Andrew taken during his life but all slightly dog eared & set at lopsided angles.

Above the doorway in bright neon bulbs the words ‘WHAT THE BUTLER SAW NEXT’ give the crowds an enticing curiosity as to what might be revealed within.

And THAT my friends is how to cash in on…….a nobody.
