Following on from Birmingham declaring bankrupt, Nottingham City followed suite.
Today just a few weeks later the Govt has called in The Commissioners. The Council is no longer controlled by the majority Labour Councillors.
It's not just Labour controlled though down the road Tory controlled Nottingham County Council have declared they are also in trouble. Both Councils blame the reduction of cash from Central Govt!
Nottingham City got itself in trouble over Robin Hood energy  a failed cheap energy scheme and the transfer of monies from a Housing budget which later had to be refunded from their existing budget.
How many more in the coming months?

Adding more reported tonight on EMids BBC, Leicestershire County Council say that whilst not a problem at the moment trouble is looming over the budgets for the next couple of years.
Notts City claim their funding had been reduced by £100m year on year. Their biggest problem is that the vast majority of their housing is in Council Tax bands A and B they haven't got the income other areas around them have with properties in the higher Tax Bands but are still expected to provide the same level of services

Ok . Let’s say 1000 young male Syrian migrants get accepted into the uk. Where do they live ? Who houses them? Who pays for this ? it’s not as simple as them Getting a job and paying their own way in rental accommodation. We already have a rental market/ housing issue.

260,000 long term empty homes in the UK. Streets worth of houses in places like Edlo with houses that are empty but just need gutting and doing up, but people own them who don't care.

I’ve looked into buying a couple of houses in the Doncaster area, but the people who own want to much money for them would rather let them fall down, get vandalised than do them up or sell them. Why is this ?

Only a precursor to the massive increase in council tax that's about to be delivered to properties throughout the Uk,

Accountability and operational competence is something that very rarely becomes reality in Local government.

Priorities are completely wrong and getting worse.

Has anyone making sweeping statements about the viability of councils examined more than 1% of the total, or even 1%?
