Trialist striker
« on February 20, 2024, 08:07:19 pm by Bailey Vickerage »
Was Maxime Biamou, ex Cov striker and close mates with Westbrooke.

Not played for a couple of year but if he is to sign for us it would be low risk with the only one being his wages for the rest of the season and if he does well as backup to Ironside maybe another year while Miller is out.

It would also allow Goodman to go on loan and play regularly for the last 15 or so games.

Theres usually a good reason why they have not had a contract in two years, not for me, won’t be fit and Goodman would be a better option

Doesnt Make sense at all to me. 33yr old. 3 games in 3 years. What can he bring to the squad that will be benifical.

He will be way off anything close to match fitness.

A lot of assumptions. Interesting though IMO.

Don Goodman anyone?

Maybe just a character to have around the place.

Wonder if it's a favour for a mate of someone at the club, or someone he shares an agent with.

Or we just needed someone to make the numbers up, who knows.

Good to see Goodman on the score sheet in the game though.

Lots of opinions here from people who’ve never seen him play.

I doff my hat to anyone who has seen him play given his game time over the last few years.

He was here on trial we’ve not signed him if it was him. Grant will make the decision it will depend on how he performs and fitness but also how much we are prepared to pay.

He is close mates with Westbrooke from their time at cov, been training with Burton and a couple of French clubs over the last year or so apparently.

Depending on his wages (apparently they wouldn’t be too high) it would be very low risk until the end of the season and then if he did well another year to cover for Miller.

Would rather see Goodman go out on loan and play regularly for the last 15 or so games instead of sitting in the stands or on our bench and getting 10-15 mins every few games.

If you look at McCann centre forwards (Marquis, Magennis, Ironside), he fits the profile of a physically strong yet energetic player.

I doubt there's anything more to this than him training with us for fitness purposes.

A little more ‘meat on the bone’ in the DFP today. Obviously, the lad has had quite a serious injury (similar to Westbrooke), but to rehab himself says a lot about his mental strength. I’ve said for a while now that if we get a serious injury to Ironside then we’ll struggle, so you never know, this guy could provide us with a bit of insurance cover.

Joe is like Boris the bullet dodger in Snatch. Can’t kill him no matter how hard they try.

I think this is a smart low risk move.

We have 4 Tuesday night games between now and the end of the season.

Although Joe is indestructible, we can’t run him in to the ground.

What I like about this, is not just settling with coping with what we have, despite the number of players in the squad, but actively covering Joe should he suffer injury or suspension. This suggests McCann is really going for a strong finish to the season.

This signing can only be a good thing for Rovers, short term deal, I would imagine not on a lot of money either per week, a lot of experience although been out for a long time but I trust GMs judgement on this as who is to say this is a bad thing, GM knows better than anyone on here who is good for his team and who isn't, looking forward to seeing the man in action. As D ream
( now Yazz) said the only way is up!!
