Injuries Again

Both Craig and Ironside both out for Saturday and Maxwell is borderline. Sterry, meanwhile, is back training and has every chance of being available.

Both Craig & Ironside should be ok for the Forest Green game, next Saturday.

Good thinking from GM getting this new striker signed. He looked very good when he came on as sub v Crewe. So hopefully we won’t miss Joe too much.
Without Ironside we have no one similar who can play that role so think this signing was inspirational or at least one made with great foresight.

Also lucky for us  that Westbrook is available again to play.

Never good to have 2 players of such importance missing from the starting 11 but I feel Max will be great on saturday after he showed some of his qualities in the 45 mins he played last weekend,  Westbrooke to slot straight back into Craigs holding midfield role so not too much to worry about imo, I would much rather have Joe and Matthew back to full fitness and raring to go against FGR rather than risk him this weekend with the potential to do further damage, I personally love the work that GM has done and the players he has brought in since Jan, you can see a real togetherness with the players, goals are being spread out a little bit more now within the team, subs are coming on and making impacts unlike pre xmas and the weight that was placed on Joe's shoulders as a lone striker must have been eased slightly now with the players in the starting 11 being so much better in the last 9 games and points being won and the table slowly but surely being climbed. Still fancy us for the win on Saturday and to go on another great run to end the season on a high.

Yes hound definately. Broadbent although I think is still not fit is imo not good enough.
He may need more time as only 21 but I have seen very little from him to suggest that he will play anything but a bit part role next season.

I'm shocked it's took this long for Ironside to get injured. Sometimes playing rugby v some of the dopey defenders out there

Max looks a great replacement for Joe, I wonder how many minutes he'll last though? Hopefully long enough to make a difference.

Must be a serious injury to rule Ironside out for a week.

Don’t think 1 week out equals serious injury.
Probably just giving him a few more days to make sure he is 100% ok.

Listening to GM’s interview, he’s been very clear about the strategy of keeping them out for a while to prevent, possibly, more problems later. Nothing wrong with that.

It gives the lads coming in an opportunity to show GM what’s really on offer going forward. After all, we’re getting near to the point where GM has to decide about a few lad’s futures!

I do think we’ll miss both, but Westbrook we know about and Biamou has given a hint of his usefulness at this level.

Lets face it, most games are dead-rubbers now, we aren't going up or down.
If in doubt leave them out, give the other lads chances for next year.

Ideally yes, but until the maths say otherwise we can still go down.

After the last 3 years we need as much positive momentum as possible. No dead rubbers.

:PAh but me being a pessimist for today. If we lose to Swindon, FGR beat Sutton & then turn us over at home, that's down to a 4 point gap with 6 to play? Colchester win their game in hand on us, & beat us in the rearranged game, 5 point gap. Just saying like

After the last couple of years of tedium we need to hit the ground running for next season, a good finish to this season will help us to achieve that.

Its also a fact that at this time of the year results can be very unpredictable with teams desperate at both ends of the league, with this in mind we need to keep up the pressure as we can still finish with some sort of flourish, we need any confidence boosters that are available.

First time we've had any sort of momentum since Moore realised that the grass was greener in Sheffield.

Must be a serious injury to rule Ironside out for a week.

GM says ‘stiffness & soreness’.

‘Carrying’ a 13+stone defender on your back for 30 odd games who’s intent on ripping your shirt off your back when you try
shaking him off will do that.

Ironside's playing style of using his body to shield the ball invites the maulings he gets from defenders and refs have to take this into account rather than award him fouls every time. We had a winger in my University team that used to push the ball past the defender and then run into him in the hope of getting a free kick, even at that level refs soon wised up to it.

Yes, he does use his body to shield the ball nut in most games he only ever gets one or two free kicks given in his favour and several more are given against him.
He is fouled much more than once or twice a game.

A fully fit & revitalised Joe Ironside will give him a piggy back down the tunnel after scoring a brace up against him.

Both from open play to boot!
