It's almost gone under the radar that we have a potential 20 goal striker "for free" in George miller coming back into the equation!!

Thought Adelakun would sign and it’s disappointing, but Grant mentioned we’re close to another midfield player, who’ll replace Tommy Rowe! Christ on a bike, we’re not messing about, are we?

That interview was extremely positive. Now, what exactly are Grant’s plans?

I’m losing count of what we’ve got left:

Keeper - absolutely essential
RB - will Sterry see a full season?
Partner for Bailey - a must
Another wide man - who maybe the guy were close to signing, maybe a utility guy?

The pot is starting to boil.

I cannot see us signing a partner for Bailey when McCann has signed Close and Westbrooke. Presumably he didn’t sign them to sit on the bench.

He won’t want many but there will almost certainly be two and maybe even three loanees to come. Suspect one might well be a keeper.

Westbrook will be on the bench. Suspect Close will play with Bailey most of the time.

I don’t think close is a shoe in anymore considering our best run of form came with him out of the side. Obviously a few caveats with that

I really rate him. If we'd not signed Craig when we lost Close wed have finished bottom half for sure.

If Close had not got crocked there was a good chance the bottom half would have been exactly where we would have finished, just like the season before when he played.

Correlation is not causation. The reason for our end to the season was not Close getting injured and not playing. Who’s to say we wouldn’t have finished even stronger if he had been available.

Prior to February we didn't win any games this season that Close didn't feature. Him coming back from injury helped us turn into a mid-table team from a relegation team. He might not do as well as Craig did, but some of you lot are making out that he's Madger Gomes level.

Problem with Ben Close is he isn’t going to win many tackles.
But he has a pass in him that is for sure.
Can he play in a 3 with Bailey & Sbarra. Not sure myself.
Does it give enough protection in front of our back 4?

I think we'll sign another young quality loan midfielder to partner Bailey.

Lots of good attributes and a talented player, but he's a bit nesh isn't he.
