What if I were to say the word

Lancia?

For me, that's Group B rally, 1980s. Lancia 037 and Delta Integrale.

Well they are being revived. They are going to release a road car that looks quite a bit like a Stratos! And they are going to return to international rally sport.

My favourite car brand is back.

I was marshalling when the RAC rally used the Hoveringham quarry alongside the RAF Finningley runway.  The Works team Lancia Stratos came past and the sound from it was unlike anything else in the rally, it felt like a herd of horses was trampling my chest.  Absolutely awesome and it always looked fabulous in its Alitalia livery.  The Lancia Delta remains to this day one of the most handsome rally cars I ever saw.  Just stunning.  I went to Halfords last year for something and there was one parked outside in full rally livery.  Not competition prepared but still looked fabulous.  I had to get a few photos.

I take my hat off to Stellantis, they really seem to have their finger on the pulse of motoring enthusiasts who still make up a decent percentage of car buyers. There are plenty of people who see cars as white goods to fulfil a purpose and there are plenty of options for them but brands like Lancia and Alfa Romeo still very much have a role to play.

They have also been bold in some of the styling cues of Citroen which are reminiscent of the 1960s & 70s DS, SM & CX models. Look at the profile and rear quarter view of a current DS9 and it screams "Citroen."

The Peugeot range looks more modern and premium than ever and the Alpine A110 is pretty much unanimously lauded by car enthusiasts. Gordon Murray has one as his daily driver.
