Are we one of the slowest sides in the division??? Look at todays lineup.....

02 O'Connor -- Nippy
06 Chambers -- Nippy
21 Hird -- Ox
32 Ward -- Ox
08 Stock -- Ox
15 Wilson -- Ox
16 Oster -- Ox
26 Coppinger -- Average
05 Sharp -- Ox
12 Hayter -- Average

Just my view.

Simple spadger.

If you're wanting O'Driscoll-level intelligence/footballing sophistication AND pace/power/physique, you're looking at Wayne Rooney.

At this level of football, you go for one or the other. Or, like most teams, a pragmatic mixture of the two.

We've chucked our lot entirely into the \"sophistication\" bag. We can't complain if we don't have a Plan B to go for raw power/pace when Plan A doesn't work. When Plan A DOES work, we get Tuesday at Hillsborough. When it DOESN'T work, we all sit back with a tinny and say \"if only be had a big/fast/hard t**t up front/in midfield\".

in a nutshell i guess that is what he means yes, although ive said it before and i'll say it again, i think guy would make a good winger (no offside to worry about as such, lol) and the last couple of cameos he's played iv been impressed with him.

As Francis Urquhart would have said, \"You may say that. I couldn't possibly comment.\"

Shelton will add much needed pace at the back. He is rapid, up there with Sol Campbell of a few years ago I would say.

Pace in the legs is less important than the speed at which you move the ball. Consider the last two home games. Against Reading we played at a slow tempo, or at least one that we allowed the opposition to dictate. As a result we moved the ball slowly, created few openings after the first 20 minutes and got picked off. Against Forest, we played at a much higher tempo throughout and looked the better team all through the game- even though Forest are much stronger on paper than either Rovers or Reading.

Didn't go yesterday but it sounds like another game where we set the metronome on low and struggled to turn posession into chances. My mate who was at the game said the only time we stepped it up a bit, we scored.

Funny that you mark down Hayter, who I think is one of our slower players, as average and Oster as slow. As for Sharp, he isn't blessed with searing pace but he doesn't have to be. As with all good strikers, the first few yards are in the head.

I wouldn't have said Hayts is more pacey than Billy, neither have much, but it was nice on Tuesday to see on a couple of occasions a ball was knocked up for Billy to chase he broke free and left his marker for dead.  With the instinct and desire Billy shows, if he had pace too he'd be with an upper Prem club, no doubt.

I'd say that Oster and Billy have more pace than Hayter tbh.

That is why I think we should get Deano back in the side. I know he isn't the quickest, but he's not bad, and he is very quick with the ball at his feet.

i think we just missed the likes of roberts and woods . also the big down fall is no shackel or martis .. hird is very good but is still learning and isnt as confident as he could be ward is very good at scoring goals of the season contenders ;) but it takes a while for a player to fit in i feel there was a lot of presure on him at wednesdays being his debut and a local derby but wednesdays did break the defense alot from what i saw  ... stock is getting back to his ways slowerly as i saw from wednesdays away and wilson is playing average he is a bulky bloke that people dont mess with  but from what ive seen this season his first touch can be a little poor .. for me he is on and off.. oster we couldnt ask for a better player along with coppinger...both very experienced and give 100% .. you win some and you lose some.. and just want our day .. we have 40 points and teams stayed up on 51 last season and i feel it will be even less this season ..ive forgot about the whole play off push it wud be loverly but lets secure our championship status for the second season in a row :) i remember john ryan saying european champions in 5 years time ;) still gives us 4 years lol
