Interesting Stat re season ticket prices
« on March 04, 2010, 09:23:54 am by BobG »
I see from the results of the vote on the ST pricing furore that only 13% of over 280 people who have voted are actually opposed to the proposed increases. That's real food for thought that is. If some silly bugger at the Rovers could do a more scientific survey it might well suggest that raising even more revenue wouldn't be too big a problem. What would the vote be, for example, if they even stuck another £20 on each ST price? Do they know?

It all goes to show that Rovers supporters are behind JR and the Board with the idea of increasing revenue and that they would support paying significantly more.  If only the Board'd simply stop to actually think for a minute before diving in.......

Dave Morris: once again, this is fairly and squarely at your door.

As said by a number of posters Bob, the issue is not the price increase, it`s the short timscale and the total lack of communication, the only reason I can think of that they are not willing to budge on the timescale is the fact that they cannot take constructive criticism and it`s their way or no way, they`re clearly not up to the job of running the admin side of a progresive Championship club

Yes. To both Filo and Adge. To me, this is yet another demonstration of the weakness at the top of the administrtaive hierarchy. I know, we all know, that the prie increase isn't the issue. What I find interesting is that the prices could go up even further without seriously damaging support. Do the Rovers know that? Maybe they do, but what they clearly do NOT know is how to communicate and how to help their customers help them.

This whole episode is shameful.

I think we're all agreed that if the administration had applied any kind of PR/marketing principles to the season ticket fiasco, pledges of financial support to JR and the board would have been forthcoming from those who could afford it.
I find it hard to believe any forethought hasn't gone into the decisions taken, but the evidence suggests this is a rush job instigated by someone who is either out of their depth or prone to panic. This is basic marketing for goodness sake! Test your potential target areas before you launch a product and if the indicators aren't good, refine that product to maximise its potential.
I understand the reason why JR needs to have projected season ticket sales in his hand, most clubs tie up next season's signings between now and June, but I've been involved in PR long enough to know that if I conducted business in this manner, I wouldn't have that business for very long.
As has been pointed out many times on this forum in the past, we have a Championship team with excellent coaches and a generous board, but that Conference mentality and naivety off the field will continue to hold us back.
