Who Would you retain????
« on March 07, 2010, 10:19:52 pm by Danmckay456 »
It has been well documented that we have numerous players out of contract this season who would you keep and why ???

I will start the ball rolling with Gareth Roberts , for me he has been consistent and outstanding when linking up with Oster  down the left , never frightened of putting a tackle in and is the best crosser of a ball along with James O`Connor !!!

I'd have to know who's out of contract! I've no idea, but based generally on our squad I'd be looking to keep nearly everybody anyway!

Tough one this and too many variables to answer.

These are the players I would keep 100% and I'd be surprised if SOD released any of them.

In order of importance:

1. O'Connor (only 25. Consistent, can play number of positions) 2 years
2. Chambers (fast accurate passing helps us tick) 1 year
3. Coppinger (we need a creative threat) 1 year
4. Roberts (consistent and solid, adds a few goals) 1 year
5. Sulli (still quality) 1 year

Arguments can be made for or against any of the others. Depends on wages/possible replacements.

edit: I forgot Oster. 6 months/1 year max.

Roberts, O'Connor amd most of all Coppinger, epitomise what Rover have been about in the modern era.

Copps is our longesr serving player, and the other two are not far behind.

Nothing would give me greater pleasure than seeing them line up in our first Premiership game. By then Greeney would have been brought back to where he belongs, and he could be one of the very few players to play in all divisions from the conference.

If that doesn't happen then Copps, for all his  frustrations, can light up any match.

I watched the U 21s on Wednesday and Jack Wilshire was the only decent player on view. Copps has as much talent if not more.
