Do we need JET
« on March 28, 2010, 09:32:55 am by duggiesmyhero »
Yes i know he's scored some great goals while he's been here, but on the last few performances he,s looked lazy not intrested and at times gone missing from games, yesterday was one of those games. In my opinion send him back to Arsenal we dont need him

Thus guaranteeing that we get no more loan players from Arsenal. Smart move, eh?  :(

I'm sure SO'D will manage the situation- he usually does!

I thought he came into the game a lot more in the second half, and he also contributed to the goal.

you have to look beyond that judgement and the bigger picture is SOD's attempt to build a relationship with Arsenal to tap in to their pool of talented youngsters as potential loanees . I remember SOD saying he always sent detailed reprts on loanees back to the 'mother' clubs .If JET were the finished product he would not be a loanee.
My final comment on this is that when Rovers used to grow their own youngsters under Bremner , the young players often had poor performances while they were still developing their game ... same with JET!

Agree 100%.

Also, we know that JET has the potential/capability to perform and produce something a bit special as we've seen him do it, so it's great to have another player in the squad with that in his locker. He has a lot to learn and can be frustrating to watch at times, but hopefully we'll help to progress his development and in return he'll get us a few more goals and help to build a relationship with arguably the best production-line of young players in the country (even if a lot of them aren't home grown!)

I thought he did ok yesterday compared to his last start. He.s never going to a sort of hustle and bustle type player and his laid back style sometimes comes across as appearing to not be trying too hard but he caused the dingles defence a few problems yesterday and he certainly got involved a bit  more. I seem to remember a few people questioned the work rate of another player we have who has a very laid back style of play when he first came here and he hasn't turned out to bad,a certain Brian Stock !!

Tne thing about youngsters, all of them and in all kinds of endeavour, is that they are inconsistent. It's part of learning. It's part of growing up. As I mentioned recently, Peter Kitchen wasns't much cop in his first season. Neither Brian Deane. Even Gazza wasn't - thoug the standard of comparison is clearly different. Despsote his size, JET is a kid. What is really noticeable about him thougn is that when he has the ball at his feet, it's the devils own job to get it off him. Defenders just seem to bounce off him. That's his talent. The rest comes with practice, with coaching and with maturity. And we're doing some of that coaching. So we either decide he's got enough to be worth a place and out up with the things he's not good at yet, or we don't. Or we decide to play him anyway in the hope that Robin van Persie needs a few games to get match fit again!

Cheers

He's not perfect all the way through the game, but he does have that bit of ability at times that can make the difference.  You need players like that in the team.  He did ok in spells yesterday.  Lots to learn but he's unpredictable and that helps us.

He's got a few Akinfenwa trates which makes him look a bit lazy and sometimes on the fringe of the game but he has an ability to turn the game and can be very tough to get off the ball; a raw talent who has some top attributes.

IMO Sean likes players who work hard on/off the pitch. He has to have them, due to the calibre of players we can attract for this League. JET has all the potential in the world, as we know. He is very much a luxury player, when you see what all the others do in comparison. Sean in his time here, has generally phased out certain players, who may not give him what he likes from his team.

Although it may not be him, he's the sort of player that we would like to attract to give us a plan b/options. IMO I feel Sean would have to adjust the team to accomodate JET and to get the best out of him.

Tremendous link up situation with The Gunners
