YEs he is.

And the reason Gillett didnt come after his loan deal was that his wage demands were too high.  Maybe he needs a re-think now he is unemployed?

If Gillett wants to re-think his wage demands I reckon we can sign him, SOD must still be interested.

No he's a right back.

Was a decent player at Crewe but Norwich fans say he was lazy and were glad when he left.

Maybe he won't need a re-think,SOD finds em and other managers nick em. :(

No he's a right back.

I just had a thought,
James Chambers is right footed but at his former clubs he always played left back. And when he played left back this season for us, he was better than his usual performance at right back.

So possibly we could go after either a left or right back? :)

No he hasn't always played Left-back. I read an interview with him a while ago, where he said that one of the main reasons he left Watford was because he was being overlooked for the Right-back spot, and hated playing the majority of his season on the left.

Whatever the reason we will soon find out I would imagine as SOD liked him as a player. He didn't stand out for me that much, bit too small and not as good as Oster in midfield.

No, the deal for him to come was done.  Personal terms got in the way.

i thought southampton said he could come on a free, but they wanted stock, we said no, and they spat the dummy out and demanded a fee

That was just a rumour. A case of people putting 2 and 2 together and coming out with 5.

It looks like it's 15- love to RTR.

No point,that's was out,First serve

That was in the Jan window and the stock to saints deal was also in talks at the same time and as we know fell through. So that Roversmad article could have been written before saints spat the dummy out.If you read TWTD article its states\"In October he joined Doncaster on loan, making 10 starts and one sub appearance, with the move almost becoming permanent in January. The switch, which would have seen Brian Stock move in the opposite direction, fell through at the last minute with personal terms already agreed. We understand Doncaster still want him to return to the Keepmoat Stadium\" And I read in Jan about the Saints asking a fee after initially agreeing him free in the \"STAR\" so it more than likely reporter guesswork not so much the fans putting 2 and 2 together. If RTR is confident that it WAS the personal terms that led to the deal falling down then thats good enough for me.The good news is it seems we might be trying with him again, the bad news is it looks like Ipswich are seriously interested.

I remember SOD saying in an interview it was the terms.

Anyway, he had a few good games and then tailed off. Not good enough. Move on.

I agree Baz. A busy little player without ever creating much, nor for that matter breaking opposition attacks up as a matter of course. So in essence, a midfielder who does not play a holding role, 'spray' passes about creating attacking opportunities, or breaks up opposition attacks with timely tackles.

Me thinks we can do better.

He didn't stand out to me, either, Barmby, but he did the link up between defence and attack admirably. He's a different kind of player to Oster and to compare is unfair. As a priority, we should secure Oster (and Hayter) first, before moving on to the likes of Gillet. SOD has said that he wants a striker, a centre back and a midfielder, plus replacements for all those who don't renew. So, Gillet could be the midfielder that he has in mind and, other than him being a little lacking in the height department, I think he did OK whilst with us on loan. We could do a lot worse!

Gillett was very good at being not very good at anything in particular, but a good pro who worked hard and helped the team/system tick. I think we already have one of his types and he's the best at that.

POSITIVES
Gets stuck in.
Plenty of effort.

NEGATIVES.
He is very short.

Well if sod likes the luck of him then go get him,hes half decent but hes not anything to boast about is he?
Good signing though if we can get him on a free.

If we sign him FANTASTIC.
If we dont then OH WELL i will live on.
