I'd rather nick Scunnys scouting set up then Bobby Grant
Less expectation? I don't think we are such a million miles away from being like Scunny, getting \"big club\" syndrome here? I don't expect the big name signings from Rovers, but I know that they will be playing a better standard of football than they ever have in their football lives before after a few months with SOD. If we choose to get a lg.2 player instead of Billy I won't be moaning.
Dean Shiels was on everybody's lips as a striker/midfielder then? How about Stock? Mills? Roberts? Chambers? I could go on but I will hold my hands up for being ignorant, I had absolutely no idea about these players before Rovers declared interest/signed them. If we play someone not known to our fans we would be paying a fortune for our squad and shedloads for wages. We do exactly the same as Scunny, we look around for cheap players and then get them to be better. If you look at the expectations fo people on here, a small part of our fanbase, then for the last two seasons the phrase,\"If we end up fourth from bottom then I will be happy\" is quite a common one. I don't expect Rovers to be pushing for promotion next season, or playoffs, I do expect them to do their best, and if that means we have another season like the last I will be very happy!
We have moved on now. I think since we went on that great run, in the second half of last year, that coupled with the season just gone, most are now expecting big things.

Surely if people were expecting big things we would have seen higher sales not lower? And to my mind the general mood on this board is doom and gloom over not being able to afford this, that & the other player rather then 'promotion here we come'. After nearly 40 years supporting Rovers I have leant never to expect anything, but another year in this division would do me fine thanks.
Scunny fans expect to be a yoyo club from league one. We on the other hand, expect to be around the playoffs now. Count me out of that mate. I'm chuffed to bits at where we are and I'm amazed we are still there and improving. I'm under no illusion that this cannot go on forever and each season is a blessing.I think our expectation is much greater.(and this is what causes the disappointment by some) If we played someone not known then our fans would go mad(I don't buy that), whereas Scunny fans have come more accustomed to it, and they know that's how their club ticks. I.e unearth a gem and flog to the highest bidder. A bit like Mills and possibly Wellens

And the other players you mentioned were bought in league one^^^^. I think threes alot of expectation brewing up with Rovers fans
It got said the other day:We need to find out how Scunny unearth these promising strikers they do it time and again. Put us to shame in that department.Today they've signed young Bobby Grant from Accrington, only 19 years old. Not that tall, saw him a couple of times last season and he scored in their 5-3 win over Crewe which I saw.Why can't we sign these? What's happened to Rooney's younger brother?
