England v Slovenia On Wednesday
« on June 18, 2010, 11:16:57 pm by SkellowRover »
My team would be:

---------------James---------------
-----------------------------------
Johnson--Dawson--Terry--A.Cole
-----------------------------------
-----------------Barry---------------
-----------------------------------
SWP-------Lampard--------J.Cole
-----------------------------------
--------------Gerrard--------------
---------------Rooney--------------

At least with Joe Cole in the side and Gerrard in the middle supporting rooney we might create something and bloody score.

agreed on that team. If we had won tonight i would have dropped lampard and rooney from the slovenia game, show them they need to earn a place in the starting 11, but we need them because the squad in general lacks quality apart from the obvious. Fabio Capello, JOE COLE HAS TO PLAY!!!!

We will never score regularly whilst playing so many square passes and back passes.  Teams at this level just funnel back and get 11 behind the ball so quickly, so we need to play to our strengths (which Fabio looks to be trying to coach out of the players) which are pace and power.  Why play everything at walking pace in the final third, like we did tonight?  Its no wonder their keep had an easy ride.

Lots of pointless, pedestrian possession in the middle of the park. Never getting behind the defence. Strikers either receiving the ball with their backs to goal 30 yards out, on the line of a massed defence, or having to come deep to do a shift in midfield.

Sounds EXACTLY like us, early 2008-09.

The days of playing it up to a front line and having someone work their way through are gone. Defences are way too well organised for that these days. You've got to play it quickly and turn the defence. There's only one way to beat them - get round the back. f**k me - Keith Allen knew that 20 years back.

It may be controversial, but I'd take Lampard out. He's been a passenger for both of the games so far.

Not contoversial at all. The bloke is f**king useless in an England shirt, but we knew this years ago didnt we?

Agreed, Lampard looks good at Chelsea because he has genuine world class players to carry him, mind Gerrard was no better tonight, he`s been little more than average for Liverpool all season, thats why Liverpool have had such a poor season. Rooney is not fit, he has n`t recovered from that injury fully, Carragher is not good enough, too f**king slow, Lennon runs like a girl! no creativity at all, what does Joe Cole have to do to get a start?

Cappello! not the great manager everyone thought he was, it was crying out for a change 5 minutes into the 2nd half when it became obviuos that the dire performance of the first half was about to be repeated!

Should start with Gerrard behind Rooney on wednesday - it where he plays his best and everyone knows it, not on the left wing. And bring Crouch on to replace Rooney if he plays sh*t again.

Carrick??????

..............James....................

Johnners.......Terry...Upson...........Cash

..........Lennon....Gerrard......Barry

...............Rooney................

................Crouch...Defoe............

We need a win, we need to press on, we need to focus more on attack and moving the ball forward. We need options up front, something we haven't had yet.

I amazed anyone would want Lampard in the side for Wednesdays game. What does he offer?
I would also drop Rooney for a number of reasons.
1. He is plainly unfit and looks totally disinterested.
2. He showed what a prat he really is with his comments last night.
All those who played last night should put their match fees into a pot for the supporters who paid thousands to go and watch the shite that has been dished up so far.

Carefull!! I got slated for saying Capello wasn't all he's hyped up to be. The world cup qualification was impressive but there's something majorly wrong somewhere. The team that qualified had depth and quality, many of those players aren't there now - Beckham, Walcott etc.

A bit controversial but does Capello really understand the English game and passion for the game that us English have. He's getting a fat pay cheque no matter what shower of shite he puts out. He doesn't seem to care.

your dilussional if you think one player is going to get you thru this world cup two player changes is what i would make rooney off for crouch and cole on the left

if rooney had played like that for man utd i can guarantee he would be dropped and had a right bollocking off fergie hes either injured (wich is my guess) or hes just not fit so either way he needs dropping to the bench

then you might have a chance
